The SKF 32308 single-row tapered roller bearing accommodates combined radial and axial loads during operation, with dimensions of 40 × 90 × 35.25 mm.
This complete 32308 tapered roller bearing belongs to the SKF Explorer performance class and is designed for demanding industrial applications. The design comprises the inner ring with a set of rollers and a separately mountable outer ring. Thanks to the geometry of the tapered rolling elements, the design transmits simultaneously acting radial and axial forces. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways and maintains a defined distance between them.
Typical applications include gearbox shafts, axle bearings and general mechanical assemblies where radial loads are combined with unidirectional axial forces. As a single tapered roller bearing, by its very design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, it is usually fitted in pairs in an X or O arrangement during operation. This arrangement allows the bearings to be precisely aligned with one another and the desired operating clearance to be set during assembly.
Manufacture to the standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1 is designed to ensure reproducible installation dimensions for standard fits. In the Explorer version, the bearing is characterised by optimised surfaces on the rollers and raceways, which promotes the formation of the lubricating film during operation. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the component is suitable for a wide range of industrial operating conditions. Lubricants and housing seals can be selected to suit the specific application.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a total width of 35.25 mm. These standardised key dimensions precisely define the installation space required on the shaft and in the housing seat.
The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring, together with the roller cage. This feature facilitates sequential installation in gearbox housings, as you can press both rings onto the shaft and into the housing bore independently of one another.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the built-in sheet steel cage and the metal bearing components retain their dimensional stability under normal lubrication conditions.
P0 is the designation for standard dimensional and running tolerances in accordance with the ABEC 1 classification. Components in this accuracy class are suitable for general mechanical engineering applications and allow for cost-effective replacement without the need for special fits.
Due to the angle of inclination of the roller conveyors, the component supports axial loads in one direction only. To accommodate axial loads from both sides, a second tapered roller bearing is always required as a counter-bearing on the shaft.
