Tapered Roller Bearings FAG 32212

The FAG 32212 tapered roller bearing is designed to accommodate combined radial and single-direction axial loads in mechanical engineering applications, with main dimensions of 60 × 110 × 29.75 mm.

The FAG 32212 tapered roller bearing is designed as a single-row bearing for combined loads. Thanks to its tapered rollers and raceways, this bearing absorbs radial forces whilst simultaneously dissipating unidirectional axial forces. You receive a complete tapered roller bearing in the standard version with standard tolerance in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The open bearing without an integrated seal allows for customised use in lubricated gearboxes or housings.

In which applications is the 32212 tapered roller bearing used?

This single-row tapered roller bearing is suitable for applications where high radial forces are combined with axial forces. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering, in gearboxes and shaft mountings. As a single tapered roller bearing can, by design, only absorb axial forces in one direction, designers usually fit the bearing in pairs with a second, oppositely mounted roller bearing in an X or O arrangement. In this way, they guide shafts without play and axially in both directions.

What is the function of the sheet steel cage in the 32212 tapered roller bearing?

The integrated sheet steel cage keeps the conical rolling elements spaced apart and prevents direct contact between the rollers. This cage design offers a low weight and mechanical stability at varying speeds. For its intended application, the component covers a permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. Furthermore, the bearing is designed to be disassembled: you fit the outer ring separately from the pre-assembled inner ring, complete with the set of rollers, which facilitates the fit assembly.

What are the dimensions of the 32212 tapered roller bearing?

This roller bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a total width of 29.75 mm. These nominal dimensions are crucial for ensuring a precise fit when designing and specifying shaft and housing seats.

Why is the 32212 tapered roller bearing usually fitted in pairs?

Due to its design, a single-row bearing of this type can only absorb axial forces from one direction. By fitting two bearings in pairs, arranged in a mirror-image configuration, you can secure the shaft in both axial directions. By adjusting the alignment of the two rings relative to one another, mechanics set the required bearing clearance during operation.

What does the tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 mean?

Classification according to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 defines the manufactured dimensional and runout tolerances of the bearing rings. This is the standard tolerance for industrial applications, which is entirely sufficient for the majority of general machinery and gearbox construction.

What is the approved temperature range for the bearing?

The manufacturer specifies the permissible operating range as -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Within this temperature range, the sheet steel cage and roller bearing steel retain their dimensional stability. When commissioning the unit, ensure that the lubricant used covers the same operating temperature range.

Is the 32212 tapered roller bearing sealed?

No, this model is an open design without its own sealing washers. This allows the operating lubricant to circulate freely through the roller set from the housing or oil bath. An external seal must be fitted to the housing to protect against dirt and moisture.
