The FAG 32206 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 30 × 62 × 21.25 mm and a sheet steel cage, offers a robust solution for combined radial and axial forces.
The 32206 tapered roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing in standard design, manufactured to standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1. Thanks to the angled, truncated conical rollers, this design can simultaneously accommodate high radial and axial forces from a single direction. As a complete tapered roller bearing, the FAG version consists of the inner ring with a roller cage and the matching outer ring. The design is rated for a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees.
Shaft bearings subjected to combined loads constitute the primary area of application for the 32206 tapered roller bearing. Typical applications include gearbox construction, industrial drives and wheel and axle bearings. As a single tapered roller bearing, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, in practice it is usually fitted in pairs in an X or O arrangement with a mirror-image mating bearing. This arrangement precisely supports axial forces on both sides.
The bearing is not self-retaining, which means that the inner ring and outer ring can be fitted separately. This facilitates pressing onto the 30 mm diameter shaft and fitting into the housing with an outer diameter of 62 mm. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly, even under demanding operating conditions. The required bearing clearance or preload is adjusted during assembly via the counter bearing to suit the specific operating conditions.
With an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a total width of 21.25 mm, the bearing is suitable for standardised mounting spaces. These dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing assemblies. The design comprises a complete tapered roller bearing, including both the inner ring with its set of rolling elements and the outer bearing shell.
Due to the linear contact between the tapered rollers and the raceways, the bearing can withstand high radial loads. At the same time, the inclined raceway geometry transmits axial forces in one direction. If axial forces act from both directions, it is advisable to arrange the bearings in pairs, with a second tapered roller bearing on the same shaft.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. The built-in sheet steel cage retains its dimensional stability within this temperature range and guides the rollers evenly. To ensure reliable operation, a lubricant should be selected that maintains its viscosity within this temperature range.
P0 or PN denotes the standard tolerance for rolling bearings in accordance with ISO and DIN standards, which corresponds to the US ABEC 1 classification. This precision class defines permissible dimensional, geometric and running accuracies. It meets the standard requirements of general machinery and gearbox construction without any specific high-precision specifications.
Single-row tapered roller bearings do not have a factory-set bearing clearance. It is only during installation that you set the desired clearance or a specific preload via the opposite bearing. This is typically achieved using shims, shaft nuts or keyways on the housing cover.
