The SKF 30332 J2 tapered roller bearing, measuring 160 × 340 × 75 mm, offers a robust solution for combined radial and axial forces in mechanical engineering.
This single-row tapered roller bearing 30332 J2 simultaneously accommodates high radial forces as well as axial forces from one direction. Due to the tapered arrangement of the rolling elements, the rollers run in a linear fashion along the raceways of the inner and outer rings. The product scope includes the complete tapered roller bearing with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. The standard SKF version is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The bearing is primarily used in heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and in general heavy machinery construction. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by their design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted in pairs in an X or O configuration with a second bearing mounted in the opposite direction. This configuration provides a rigid shaft guidance system and supports alternating axial loads. Even under vibration, the integrated sheet steel cage keeps the rollers precisely spaced apart.
With tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the bearing complies with the standard tolerances for industrial use. As the inner ring with roller set and the outer ring can be fitted separately, this considerably simplifies step-by-step installation. Carefully adjust the axial bearing clearance during assembly using the mating bearing. Also take into account the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees when selecting the appropriate lubricant.
The dimensions are 160 mm internal diameter, 340 mm external diameter and 75 mm overall width. These dimensions define the required installation space for the shaft and the housing bore in the design.
As a single-row bearing, it accommodates high radial forces as well as axial forces acting on one side. The inclination of the raceways causes the radial force component to be converted into an axial force, which is why a second bearing is required as a counter-bearing in many applications.
P0 or PN denotes the standard tolerance class for metric rolling bearings and corresponds to ABEC 1. It defines the permissible dimensional and runout deviations for normal industrial applications without increased precision requirements.
The operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the bearing rings, tapered rollers and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. The lubricant used must be suitable for these ambient temperatures.
The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring and the roller cage. This design simplifies installation in confined spaces and allows the bearing rings to be pressed onto the shaft and housing separately prior to assembly.
The sheet steel cage guides the conical rolling elements at a uniform distance apart and prevents the rollers from coming into contact with one another. It is resistant to lubricants and withstands the mechanical stresses of continuous industrial use.
