The 33111 tapered roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager, with dimensions of 55x95x30 mm, provides a robust guide for combined radial and axial forces.
As a single-row roller bearing, the 33111 tapered roller bearing simultaneously accommodates high radial forces and single-sided axial forces. With a bore of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 95 mm and a width of 30 mm, this complete roller bearing is suitable for demanding applications in mechanical engineering and gearbox construction. FAG Rolling Bearings manufactures the standard version of this model with a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. Thanks to the tapered geometry of the rolling elements, the tapered rollers run smoothly along the raceways, promoting quiet operation and high rigidity.
This tapered roller bearing is primarily suitable for shaft mountings where heavy radial loads are combined with one-sided axial loads. Typical applications include gearbox designs or shaft guides subject to combined loads. As a single-row bearing can only accommodate axial forces from one direction, designers usually fit a second tapered roller bearing in a mirror-image configuration as a counter-bearing. This arrangement supports the shaft in both directions and allows for precise adjustment of the operating clearance during assembly.
The designation P0 or PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) defines the standard tolerance class for dimensional and running accuracy in mechanical engineering. This level of precision is entirely sufficient for the vast majority of industrial applications and simplifies the selection of fits for the housing and shaft. The integrated sheet steel cage reliably maintains the correct spacing between the rollers and performs well at operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. When designing the system, ensure that lubrication is appropriately configured, as the open bearing is designed to allow lubricant to enter from the outside.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 95 mm and a total width of 30 mm. These key dimensions determine the required installation space on the shaft and in the housing bore. Before fitting, check the mating dimensions of the surrounding components to ensure the bearing is correctly seated.
The permissible temperature range for the 33111 tapered roller bearing is from -30 to +120 degrees. This thermal operating range covers the typical operating conditions in general mechanical engineering. When selecting grease or oil, you should ensure that the chosen lubricant is approved for the same temperature range.
Due to its design, a single single-row tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. To guide a shaft axially in both directions, two bearings are usually mounted opposite each other in an X or O configuration. This opposing arrangement also allows the desired bearing clearance or a defined preload to be precisely adjusted during operation.
The sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the tapered rollers and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. This reduces internal friction and heat build-up during operation. Thanks to its low weight and flexible design, the cage is resilient to shock loads and facilitates the flow of lubricant between the rollers.
The bearing is designed to be separable, as the outer ring and inner ring, together with the roller cage, form separate components. This design makes installation and removal from the machine considerably easier, as both rings can be pressed onto the shaft and housing independently of one another. During assembly, the outer ring and roller cage are joined together to form the complete bearing unit.
