The 32056 X tapered roller bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings can accommodate high radial and unilateral axial loads, with dimensions of 280 × 420 × 87 mm.
The 32056 X tapered roller bearing is a complete, single-row roller bearing in a standard design. Owing to the line contact of the tapered rolling elements, this bearing is designed for mechanical applications involving combined radial and axial loads. With an inner diameter of 280 mm, an outer diameter of 420 mm and a width of 87 mm, this unit is suitable for large shaft diameters. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways.
This bearing simultaneously withstands radial forces and significant axial forces from one direction. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by design, can only support axial loads from one side, they are usually fitted in pairs in a back-to-back arrangement. Two bearings mounted in a mirror-image configuration guide the shaft in both axial directions and allow the bearing assembly to be adjusted without play.
The sheet steel cage keeps the weight of the rolling elements low and withstands the mechanical stresses encountered during operation. With a permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the bearing is suitable for thermal conditions encountered in normal industrial operation. Manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 complies with the standard for mechanical engineering and enables the selection of a defined fit for the housing and shaft.
The dimensions are 280 mm internal diameter, 420 mm external diameter and 87 mm overall width. These values define the complete tapered roller bearing in standard metric dimensions.
P0, or ABEC 1, denotes the standard tolerance for dimensional and running accuracy in rolling bearings. This accuracy class corresponds to the usual specifications for industrial applications that do not require special accuracy.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the materials used for the bearing rings, the tapered rollers and the integrated sheet steel cage.
Due to its design, a single-row tapered roller bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction. By mounting two bearings in pairs in an O or X configuration, a shaft can be guided in both axial directions and the bearing clearance can be precisely adjusted.
In the 32056 X tapered roller bearing, a sheet steel cage guides the rollers. This type of cage takes up little space inside the bearing and allows lubricant to flow freely between the rolling elements.
Due to their design, tapered roller bearings are not self-retaining. The inner ring forms a single unit with the roller ring and cage, whilst the outer ring can be removed separately. This simplifies separate installation into the housing and onto the shaft.
