The SKF 30314 tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 70x150x38 mm, is designed to withstand high radial loads as well as single-direction axial loads in mechanical engineering applications.
The 30314 tapered roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing in SKF’s Explorer series. Its design enables it to transmit high radial forces and single-direction axial forces simultaneously via tapered rollers. As the inner ring with roller set and the outer ring are separate components, installation in the housing or onto the shaft can be carried out in stages, saving time. You can use this complete bearing as a robust solution for demanding industrial applications.
The bearing is primarily used in shaft mountings and industrial gearboxes. Wherever combined loads occur, the tapered raceways specifically absorb the forces involved. As a single tapered roller bearing, by its very design, can only absorb axial forces in one direction, in practice it is usually fitted in a mirror-image pairing with a second bearing. This allows alternating axial forces to be supported and the required bearing clearance to be precisely adjusted.
A sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and ensures low-friction operation of the roller set. This design covers a temperature range from –30 to +120 degrees. Furthermore, the bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, which allows for direct replacement in standardised assemblies. During design, care must be taken to ensure appropriate lubrication and housing sealing, as the open bearing does not have an integrated seal set.
A single-row roller bearing with tapered rollers, designed to accommodate a combination of radial forces and axial forces acting from one direction. The complete SKF bearing consists of an inner ring with a roller cage and a matching outer ring.
The internal bore is 70 mm, the external diameter is 150 mm and the overall width is 38 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised dimensions for this type of bearing.
The bearing withstands very high radial forces as well as axial forces in one direction. To accommodate axial loads acting in both directions, a second bearing is usually fitted in an O or X arrangement on the same shaft.
The permissible operating temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees. Within this range, the rolling elements and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability during continuous operation.
This designation denotes the standard normal tolerance for rolling bearings. It specifies the permissible deviations for dimensions and concentricity and meets the usual requirements in general mechanical engineering and plant construction.
The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring and cage. This simplifies installation where there is a tight fit on the shaft, as well as allowing the components to be inspected separately during maintenance work.
