The SKF 33206 tapered roller bearing accommodates combined radial and axial loads whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 30 × 62 × 25 mm.
The single-row tapered roller bearing 33206 is designed as a complete rolling bearing and consists of an inner ring with a set of rollers and a matching outer ring. The tapered rollers and raceways dissipate the forces acting on them via a defined contact angle. In this version, the model is part of SKF’s Explorer performance upgrade and features a dimensionally stable sheet steel cage. The component covers an operating temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This bearing is primarily used where high radial forces must be accommodated simultaneously with unilateral axial forces. As a single tapered roller bearing, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, in practice it is usually mounted in pairs with a second tapered roller bearing positioned in a mirror-image configuration. Thanks to its separable rings, the standard version can be specifically integrated into suitable housing designs.
For correct operation, the key factor is the correct setting of the axial bearing clearance or preload during installation. As the inner and outer rings can be mounted separately on the shaft and housing, installation requires precise alignment of the mating surfaces. The mounting dimensions of 30 mm shaft diameter, 62 mm housing bore and 25 mm overall width must be taken into account. The built-in sheet steel cage reliably guides the rolling elements within the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a total width of 25 mm. These metric dimensions apply to the assembled bearing, consisting of an inner ring with a roller cage and the corresponding outer ring.
By design, a single tapered roller bearing absorbs axial forces in one direction, as the forces are transmitted via the angularly arranged tapered rollers. For alternating or bidirectional axial loads, two tapered roller bearings are mounted opposite each other, for example in an O or X configuration on the shaft.
The sheet steel cage keeps the tapered rollers at a uniform distance apart and guides them safely along the raceway of the inner ring. The design is characterised by its low weight and is rated for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
This classification describes the standard tolerance applied to the dimensional, geometric and running accuracy of rolling bearings. ABEC 1 is the US standard designation, whilst P0 and PN correspond to the European standardisation for standard tolerances.
Cylindrical roller bearings of this design are not self-retaining. The outer ring can be completely separated from the inner ring and the set of rollers. This design facilitates installation, as the inner and outer rings are fitted separately and are only aligned with one another during assembly.
The specified temperature range for the bearing is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The thermal operating limits of the entire bearing assembly depend not only on the materials of the bearing and cage, but also on the lubricant used in each case.
