The SKF single-row tapered roller bearing 32221 (105x190x53 mm) accommodates both high radial and unilateral axial loads in demanding industrial drives.
The 32221 tapered roller bearing is a separable roller bearing in metric design, consisting of an inner ring with a roller cage and a loose outer ring. With a 105 mm bore, 190 mm outer diameter and 53 mm width, the complete bearing belongs to the 322 series. The SKF Explorer version is characterised by optimised contact geometries on the raceways and tapered rollers, which reduces friction during operation.
This design is used where mechanical drives require combined loads whilst maintaining stable guidance. Typical applications include gearbox stages, industrial shafts and gearbox output shafts. As a single-row bearing can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, designers usually mirror the arrangement with a second tapered roller bearing as a counter-bearing. This creates a rigid and backlash-free guidance system for rotating machine parts.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers precisely and is designed for dynamic loads in continuous operation. Combined with the permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the component is suitable for standard industrial operating conditions. Manufacture to tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) enables a precise fit within existing machine designs, as the mounting dimensions comply with standardised specifications.
The bearing has a bore of 105 mm for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 190 mm for the housing bore, and a total width of 53 mm. These dimensions refer to the complete, ready-to-fit bearing, including the inner and outer rings.
Thanks to the angled raceways and tapered rollers, this design can accommodate both high radial forces and axial forces in one direction. To support axial forces in the opposite direction, fit a second bearing in a mirror-image position.
SKF’s Explorer class features optimised internal geometry and precisely matched surfaces between the rollers and raceways. This promotes the formation of the lubricating film, reduces friction and supports even load distribution at the points of contact between the rolling elements.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. Use within this temperature range requires a lubricant for open roller bearings that is suitable for these temperatures.
This designation indicates the standard accuracy class for rolling bearings in terms of dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. Bearings with standard tolerances meet the requirements of most industrial applications and can be easily fitted onto standard shafts and housing seats.
Yes, the outer ring (cup) can be completely separated from the inner ring with the roller set (cone). This makes installation easier, as you can mount the inner and outer rings separately onto the shaft and housing before assembling them.
