The FAG 32334 tapered roller bearing, with main dimensions of 170 × 360 × 127 mm, can accommodate high radial and axial loads in one direction simultaneously.
The FAG 32334 tapered roller bearing is designed as a complete, single-row rolling bearing. With a bore of 170 mm, an outside diameter of 360 mm and a width of 127 mm, this bearing is one of the larger components used in mechanical engineering. The geometric arrangement of the tapered rollers enables the bearing to accommodate combined forces whilst maintaining high rigidity. A robust sheet-steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways.
This single-row tapered roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces and single-sided axial loads. Typical applications include heavily loaded gearbox stages and drive shafts with combined power transmission. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by design, can only accommodate axial forces in one direction, they are usually fitted in a mirror-image configuration opposite a second bearing. The open design allows for integration into on-site lubrication systems.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains a defined spacing between the tapered rollers and prevents direct contact between adjacent rolling elements. This design offers good mechanical strength combined with low weight and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring with the roller set, which facilitates handling in the case of large bearings.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 170 mm, an outer diameter of 360 mm and a total width of 127 mm. These dimensions define the complete rolling bearing, consisting of an inner ring with a roller cage and an outer ring. Before fitting, check the mating dimensions of the shaft and the housing bore.
Thanks to the angled raceways and tapered rolling elements, the bearing can simultaneously accommodate high radial forces and axial forces in one direction. To provide axial guidance on both sides of a shaft, the component is usually combined in pairs in an X or O configuration with a second tapered roller bearing.
P0, also known as standard tolerance or ABEC 1, defines the manufacturing-related dimensional and running tolerances for rolling bearings. This standard precision class meets the requirements of standard industrial applications. It ensures reliable fit accuracy within the usual manufacturing tolerances of the surrounding shaft and housing components.
The tapered roller bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This temperature range is determined by the material properties of the bearing rings, the tapered rollers and the sheet steel cage. When selecting a lubricant, you should ensure that it is approved for the same temperature range.
Tapered roller bearings are not designed to be self-retaining. The outer ring can be completely separated from the inner ring and the mounted roller cage. This facilitates the separate installation of the outer ring into the housing and the inner ring onto the shaft, particularly in the case of heavy shaft assemblies of this size.
As an open tapered roller bearing without an integrated seal, the choice of lubricant depends on the specific operating conditions. Depending on the speed, load and ambient temperature, lubrication with grease or via a central oil circuit may be considered. Regular lubricant changes help to prevent wear.
