The FAG 32005-X tapered roller bearing, measuring 25 × 47 × 15 mm, provides a robust guide for combined radial and axial forces.
As a radial roller bearing, the single-row tapered roller bearing 32005 -X simultaneously accommodates high radial forces and axial loads from a single direction. The manufacturer, FAG, produces this complete tapered roller bearing in the standard version with a matched inner and outer ring. The line contact between the tapered rollers and the raceways ensures dimensionally stable shaft guidance under high loads.
Designs involving combined radial and axial loads require precise guidance of the rotating shaft. As a single tapered roller bearing, by its very design, can only support axial forces from one direction, it is usually fitted in pairs, with one bearing positioned opposite a second roller bearing. This arrangement accommodates alternating axial loads and allows for the precise adjustment of bearing clearance within the system.
The integrated sheet steel cage maintains an even spacing between the tapered rollers and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. This reduces internal friction and promotes an even load distribution across the entire raceway. Furthermore, the cage’s design allows it to be used within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Manufacture to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 defines precise dimensional and geometric tolerances for standardised installation.
The tapered roller bearing has a bore of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 47 mm and a total width of 15 mm. When designing or replacing an existing bearing mounting, these three dimensions serve as a fixed basis for the design of the shaft and the housing bore.
As a complete tapered roller bearing, this design comprises the inner ring with flanged tapered rollers and a sheet steel cage, as well as the corresponding outer ring. Thanks to its separable design, the outer ring can be fitted independently of the inner ring. This simplifies handling during assembly and maintenance.
As a single-row tapered roller bearing, this design accommodates high radial forces as well as axial forces from one direction. The angular raceways distribute the resulting loads at a defined angle. To accommodate axial forces acting from both sides, in practice a second bearing is mounted on the shaft in an O or X arrangement, with the bearings facing each other.
Tolerance classes P0 and ABEC 1 denote the standardised normal tolerance for rolling bearings. They specify the permissible limit deviations for bore, outer diameter, bearing width and concentricity. These standardised tolerance values enable bearing components to be interchanged within defined manufacturing limits.
Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius, the bearing is suitable for thermally demanding environments. The materials used for the bearing rings and the sheet steel cage are key factors in this regard. When commissioning the bearing, a lubricant specified for these temperatures must be selected.
