The SKF 32004 X tapered roller bearing, measuring 20x42x15 mm, accommodates combined radial and axial loads in mechanical guides.
This single-row tapered roller bearing 32004 X is manufactured by SKF and is designed as a complete rolling bearing. The design consists of an inner ring with a set of rollers and the corresponding outer ring. Due to the line contact of the tapered rolling elements, the component is suitable for applications involving simultaneous radial and axial loads. The bearing is designed to the Explorer performance class and covers a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees.
Due to its design as a single-row tapered roller bearing, it can only support axial forces in one direction. For this reason, in practice they are usually fitted in pairs, with a second tapered roller bearing positioned in a mirror-image orientation to act as a counter-guide. As the inner ring with roller cage and the outer ring are supplied separately, both components can be fitted onto the shaft and housing in succession.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (PN or ABEC 1), which is designed to meet common industrial accuracy requirements. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at a uniform distance along the inner ring raceway. As the design is open, sealing against dirt and lubricant loss is provided by the surrounding machine housing.
With an internal diameter of 20 mm, an external diameter of 42 mm and a total width of 15 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. Before installation, the housing seat and shaft must be adjusted to these dimensions.
The Explorer version features a specially optimised internal geometry and machined surfaces on the rollers and guide flanges. These design features promote the formation of a lubricating film between the roller face and the guide flange during normal operation.
Thanks to the angled rollers, the single-row bearing absorbs radial forces as well as axial forces from one direction. To support shafts subject to axial loads from both sides, it must be combined with a mating bearing.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. The thermal operating limits are determined by the dimensional stability of the bearing steel rings and the steel sheet cage.
The bearing features a sheet steel cage. This keeps the tapered rollers at a defined distance from one another and guides them along the raceway of the inner ring. It is compatible with standard greases and oils.
The scope of supply includes the complete roller bearing, comprising the assembly consisting of the inner ring with roller cage and the separate outer ring. Thanks to its separable design, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately.
