The single-row tapered roller bearing 32324 from FAG Wälzlager, with main dimensions of 120 × 260 × 90.5 mm, accommodates combined radial and axial loads in one direction.
The 32324 tapered roller bearing is a radial roller bearing for industrial applications. It consists of an inner ring with a set of rollers and a separate outer ring. This design accommodates high radial forces and unidirectional axial forces simultaneously. Due to the tapered arrangement of the rolling elements, the tapered rollers roll along the raceways without frictional resistance. FAG Rolling Bearings manufactures this design as a complete bearing in the standard arrangement to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This bearing is primarily used in gearboxes and in general mechanical and plant engineering, where high forces are at play. Single-row tapered roller bearings such as the 32324 model support shafts subjected to high radial loads and absorb axial thrust in one direction. For axial guidance on both sides, two tapered roller bearings are typically arranged in a mirror-image configuration. The design is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements whilst being lightweight and maintains an even spacing between the tapered rollers. This cage design withstands vibrations during continuous operation and covers the temperature range from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the inner ring and roller ring form a single unit, the outer ring can be fitted separately. This makes it easier to set the operating clearance precisely during installation.
The bore measures 120 mm, the outer diameter is 260 mm and the width is 90.5 mm. These dimensions define the required installation space on the shaft and within the bearing housing. Thanks to its standardised dimensions, the bearing fits into corresponding industrial gearboxes and mechanical assemblies designed for this size class.
Single-row tapered roller bearings of this design simultaneously accommodate high radial and axial forces from a single direction. The tapered raceways dissipate the combined forces at the contact angle. To accommodate axial forces acting in both directions, designers fit a second bearing in a mirror-image arrangement on the shaft.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the components and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. For use within this range, a lubricant with appropriate temperature stability, suited to the specific operating conditions, must be selected.
This designation describes the standard tolerance for rolling bearings in accordance with international standards. It defines the permissible deviations in key dimensions, concentricity and parallelism. Class P0 fully meets the requirements of most industrial applications in general mechanical engineering and gearbox manufacture.
The outer ring can be fitted separately from the inner ring, as tapered roller bearings are not self-retaining by design. The inner ring, together with the roller set and the cage, forms a single unit. This ability to be dismantled simplifies separate installation into housings and onto shafts.
The cage separates the individual tapered rollers from one another and prevents them from coming into contact with each other whilst in operation. This keeps friction to a minimum and ensures that the lubricant is distributed evenly across the rolling surface. Furthermore, the sheet steel cage ensures stable roller guidance even at varying speeds.
