The FAG 33117 single-row tapered roller bearing, with dimensions of 85 × 140 × 41 mm, can accommodate high combined radial and axial loads.
The FAG 33117 tapered roller bearing is an open, single-row rolling bearing designed for mechanical applications involving combined loads. With a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 140 mm and a width of 41 mm, this design withstands high radial forces as well as axial forces from one direction. The truncated conical rollers run on inclined raceways, ensuring contact along a wide line. This complete bearing serves as a dimensionally stable guiding element in shaft guides.
Tapered roller bearings are frequently used in mechanical drives and gearboxes where shafts require both radial support and axial guidance. As single-row tapered roller bearings, by their design, can only support axial forces in one direction, they are usually mounted in pairs in an X or O arrangement with a second tapered roller bearing. The FAG 33117 enables rigid shaft mountings designed for alternating or continuous loads.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the tapered rollers evenly and maintains a constant distance between the rolling elements, which promotes smooth running. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and complies with the standard tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), making it suitable for common industrial applications. As the inner ring with the roller set and the outer ring can be fitted separately, installation in the housing and onto the shaft is simplified.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 85 mm, an external diameter of 140 mm and a width of 41 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable a precise fit when mounted on shafts and in housing bores in conventional mechanical engineering and in industrial drive systems.
Due to the angled raceways of the inner and outer rings, the single-row tapered roller bearing accommodates axial forces from one direction only. To support forces in both directions, a second bearing is fitted in a mirror-image configuration, either in an X or O arrangement, to guide the shaft precisely.
The bearing is specified for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the bearing material retains its dimensional stability. The lubricant used should be selected to suit the temperatures and loads encountered during operation.
The designation P0 denotes the standard tolerance class with normal dimensional and running accuracy and is comparable to the ABEC 1 specification. It is suitable for traditional mechanical engineering applications where standard fits are used on shafts and housings.
With this bearing, the outer ring can be fitted separately from the pre-assembled inner ring, complete with roller cage and sheet steel cage. Maintenance engineers and fitters can press both rings into place or fit them into the housing seat independently of one another, which minimises fitting errors and simplifies assembly.
FAG fits this model with a sturdy sheet steel cage. This type of cage offers high strength whilst being lightweight, and keeps the tapered rollers in their raceway. It is well suited to fluctuating loads and normal lubrication conditions in industrial applications.
