The 22334 CC/C3W33 spherical roller bearing from SKF Rolling Bearings, with dimensions of 170 × 360 × 120 mm, is designed to support heavy radial and axial loads.
The 22334 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) for demanding industrial applications. Two symmetrical rows of rollers and the hollow-spherical raceway of the outer ring enable the compensation of misalignment or shaft deflection during operation. With a sheet steel cage and a design suitable for temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees, this SKF bearing covers a wide range of applications in mechanical engineering.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel prefer to use this bearing type in heavily loaded shaft mountings subject to combined forces and deflections. Thanks to its angularly adjustable design, the roller bearing dynamically compensates for unavoidable misalignments between the inner and outer rings. The open design allows for the free circulation of oil or grease. The integrated lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring facilitate rapid relubrication, which simplifies maintenance intervals in industrial plants.
This design features a sheet steel cage for stable roller guidance. The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance. This additional radial clearance is advisable in the presence of thermal stresses or tight fits, to prevent the bearing from being subjected to undesirable preload. The W33 designation refers to lubrication grooves and lubrication holes in the outer ring. The design is complemented by the tolerance class with normal dimensional accuracy (PN) and increased running accuracy (P5) for smooth concentricity.
With a bore of 170 mm, an external diameter of 360 mm and a width of 120 mm, the dimensions comply with the industry standard. These dimensions allow for a precise fit when installed in standardised bearing housings or machine frames.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than that of standard bearings. This increased clearance between the rollers and raceways compensates for thermal expansion at high operating temperatures or tight shaft fit allowances, without causing the rolling elements to become jammed.
W33 refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. Grease or lubricating oil flows directly into the interior of the bearing via these channels, which helps to ensure even distribution of the lubricant across both rows of rollers.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 roller bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, the material retains its microstructural stability and strength within this temperature range.
Dimensional accuracy complies with the standard PN tolerance class, whilst running accuracy is subject to tighter tolerances in accordance with class P5. This combination ensures uniform concentricity within standard tolerances for seat diameter and housing bore.
Open roller bearings do not have integrated lip seals or cover plates. They are suitable for installation spaces where external seals on the housing protect against contamination and lubrication is provided via a central lubrication system or an oil bath.
