The SKF 23140 CC/C3W33 spherical roller bearing, with dimensions of 200 × 340 × 112 mm, can accommodate high radial loads and compensates for misalignment during operation.
The 23140 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a bore of 200 mm, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a width of 112 mm. This SKF product is characterised by its spherical rollers and the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. As a result, the design compensates for both static and dynamic angular misalignments between the shaft and housing. Under heavy loads, the bearing ensures smooth running across a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used in applications where significant radial forces and combined axial loads occur. Thanks to its design, the bearing compensates for operational shaft deflection without causing excessive edge pressure. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely between the flanges. As the open bearing is designed for demanding environments, its operation requires a suitable housing seal and regular relubrication.
The CC/C3W33 design features a slightly increased radial clearance (C3) and a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. The increased radial clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by operating heat or tight fits, ensuring that the rollers do not become distorted. The W33 feature allows lubricant to be introduced directly between the rows of rollers, which facilitates relubrication during operation. The tolerance class combines dimensional accuracy PN with increased running accuracy P5 for improved concentricity.
With a bore diameter of 200 mm, an outside diameter of 340 mm and a width of 112 mm, the bearing has standardised mounting dimensions. These dimensions enable precise fitting onto suitable shaft journals and into compatible housings. The bearing body is made from tried-and-tested 100Cr6 standard rolling-element bearing steel.
The designation W33 indicates a ring-shaped lubrication groove and lubrication holes on the outer ring. This feature facilitates the supply of grease or lubricating oil directly into the bearing interior. The lubricant is distributed evenly across both rows of rollers, which aids cooling and reduces maintenance requirements during operation.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed when the shaft or rings heat up and expand during operation. Similarly, the C3 bearing clearance compensates for radial oversize caused by tight-fit seats.
This model has a permissible operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The standard roller bearing steel used and the robust sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this range. If the temperature remains consistently high or low within these limits, you must select lubricants with a viscosity suitable for the respective temperature.
This bearing combines the standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with the enhanced running accuracy of Class P5. The external mounting dimensions therefore comply with standard tolerances, whilst the rotating rings have tighter tolerances in terms of concentricity and parallelism. This promotes smooth running and reduces vibrations at medium to high speeds.
As this model is designed as an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, protection against contamination and moisture is provided externally by the bearing housing. Use suitable radial shaft seals or labyrinth seals in the housing. This design also allows for targeted relubrication via the lubrication holes in the outer ring.
