The SKF 23040 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing, with a 200 mm bore, tapered seat and W33 lubrication system, offers high load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications.
The SKF 23040 CCK/W33 double-row self-aligning roller bearing is designed for heavy mechanical loads. With key dimensions of 200 mm inner diameter, 310 mm outer diameter and 82 mm width, this roller bearing can accommodate very high radial loads as well as simultaneously acting axial forces. The barrel-shaped rollers run on a spherical outer ring raceway, enabling the bearing to automatically compensate for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel in the SKF Explorer performance class, this design is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees.
Typical applications include heavy-duty industrial applications with high radial loads where shaft deflection or misalignment occurs. Wherever heavy shafts are subject to elastic deflection or there are housing misalignments, the spherical geometry compensates for these misalignments. The open design without an integrated seal allows for direct lubrication with grease or oil. Thanks to its P5 running accuracy with PN dimensional accuracy, the roller bearing operates with low vibration and guides shafts precisely within the machine assembly.
The designation CCK refers to a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting directly onto tapered shaft journals or, with the aid of mounting and withdrawal sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts. Fitters adjust the standard radial clearance via the axial sliding travel. The suffix W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This directs lubricant directly between the two rows of rollers and, in conjunction with the sheet steel cage, promotes even lubricant distribution.
With an internal diameter of 200 mm, an external diameter of 310 mm and a width of 82 mm, this version complies with the specified main dimensions. It is an open roller bearing made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6.
The letter K denotes a tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12, which allows for precise mounting on clamping sleeves or tapered shafts. CC denotes the internal construction with a sheet steel cage. W33 indicates that the outer ring has a lubrication groove with radial lubrication holes.
The roller bearing is fitted with a standard radial clearance. In terms of manufacturing tolerances, the SKF Explorer version combines standard dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class PN with the finer running accuracy of Tolerance Class P5, which contributes to smooth concentricity.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used, as well as the sheet steel cage, remain dimensionally and structurally stable within this temperature range. A lubricant suitable for this temperature range is required for operation.
As no sealing washers are fitted, lubrication is provided via the circumferential groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring (W33). Grease or lubricating oil enters the interior of the roller set directly via these holes. An external housing seal protects the bearing housing from the ingress of dirt.
The hollow ball raceway in the outer ring allows the inner ring, together with the set of rollers and the cage, to adjust angularly. This compensates for static manufacturing inaccuracies in the machine frame or elastic shaft deflection under heavy operating loads, without causing impermissible edge pressures on the rollers.
