The SKF 23024 CC/C3W33 spherical roller bearing automatically compensates for misalignment during operation with a 120 mm bore and an 180 mm outer diameter.
The 23024 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing for industrial applications involving combined loads. Designed as an open bearing, it allows for flexible lubricant selection once installed. The manufacturer, SKF Rolling Bearings, produces this model from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6) with a sheet steel cage. With dimensions of 120 mm inner diameter, 180 mm outer diameter and 46 mm width, the component withstands high radial forces as well as axial forces on both sides, whilst compensating for shaft misalignment.
This self-aligning roller bearing is suitable for mounting positions subject to high radial loads and shaft deflection. The barrel-shaped rollers run on a common spherical outer ring raceway. This geometry compensates for misalignment between the shaft and housing without causing additional friction. Thanks to the permissible operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees, the dimensional stability of the steel is maintained even at elevated temperatures and under varying environmental conditions in industrial applications.
The design with a slightly increased radial clearance (C3) counteracts stress when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings or when tight fits cause the inner ring to expand. The designation W33 denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This feed allows lubricant to enter directly into the bearing interior between the rows of rollers. In combination with P5 running accuracy and PN standard tolerance, the component supports low-vibration shaft mountings.
With a bore of 120 mm, an external diameter of 180 mm and a width of 46 mm, this model complies with standardised dimensions. This allows for direct installation as well as straightforward replacement with bearings of the same type.
W33 denotes a lubrication groove running around the outside of the bearing ring, with integrated lubrication holes. This allows the open bearing, whilst fitted, to be relubricated directly and evenly with fresh grease or lubricating oil via lubrication ports in the bearing housing.
Bearing clearance class C3 provides a slightly increased radial clearance as supplied. It serves as a compensation reserve in the event that operational heating of the shaft or tight fits reduce the radial operating clearance during operation.
Designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees, the rings made from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel and the integrated sheet steel cage retain their thermal dimensional stability and material properties within this range.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not have any integrated sealing washers. Protection against contamination and moisture is provided by external seals in the surrounding housing, which also allows for a free choice of lubricant.
The bearing combines standard dimensional accuracy (PN) with enhanced running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P5. This ensures smooth concentricity whilst reducing the concentricity tolerances of the rotating components.
