The SKF 22338 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing combines a tapered bore with main dimensions of 190 x 400 x 132 mm for demanding heavy-duty applications.
The 22338 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for heavy radial and combined axial loads. Featuring a tapered inner diameter of 190 mm and an outer diameter of 400 mm with a width of 132 mm, this design compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and featuring a sheet steel cage, it is suitable for operating temperatures between –30 and +200 degrees Celsius in industrial powertrains.
This self-aligning roller bearing is suitable for heavy-duty applications where significant radial forces and axial load components act on the shaft. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing adjusts its angle to compensate for housing misalignment or shaft deflection. The open design allows for targeted lubrication via external lubrication systems in mechanical engineering.
The designation CCK refers to the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design facilitates mounting on tapered shaft seats or using mounting and withdrawal sleeves, allowing the radial clearance to be adjusted in a controlled manner during installation. The W33 designation indicates a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This allows lubricant to flow directly and evenly between the two sets of rollers, simplifying maintenance procedures.
Furthermore, this Explorer design from SKF features running accuracy to tolerance class P5 and normal dimensional accuracy PN. The standard radial bearing clearance provides the defined initial clearance when the bearing is unmounted, ensuring controlled operating conditions.
A double-row spherical roller bearing with a tapered bore, designed for heavy radial and combined axial loads. The design automatically compensates for angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings. As an SKF Explorer bearing, it combines PN dimensional accuracy with enhanced P5 running accuracy for smooth operation in demanding industrial applications.
The dimensions are 190 mm bore diameter, 400 mm outer diameter and 132 mm overall width. The internal diameter is designed with a standardised taper ratio of 1:12. Thanks to these standard dimensions, the component fits precisely into standardised plain bearing housings or gearbox designs.
The designation W33 refers to a lubrication groove on the outer ring in conjunction with radial lubrication holes. This design directs grease or lubricating oil from the outside directly between the two rows of rollers. This ensures that the lubricant is distributed evenly across the running surfaces, which reduces friction and simplifies relubrication whilst the bearing is in operation.
The tapered bore (1:12) is fitted either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or using a suitable mounting or withdrawal sleeve. When pushed on axially, the inner ring expands, thereby reducing the radial bearing clearance. Installation therefore requires careful checking of the remaining bearing clearance in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the integrated sheet steel cage are designed to withstand this temperature range. To ensure safe operation at the limits of this range, a lubricant suitable for the temperature must always be selected.
Self-aligning roller bearings of this size are manufactured as open units as standard, as they are predominantly used in sealed housings with separate labyrinth seals or shaft seals. The open design allows for the free flow of circulating oil or on-demand grease relubrication via the integrated lubrication holes in the outer ring.
