The SKF 22334 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing, with a 170 mm bore and an outer diameter of 360 mm, offers high load-carrying capacity for heavy radial and axial loads.
The 22334 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications where shaft deflection or misalignment may occur. SKF manufactures this version from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel with dimensions of 170 x 360 x 120 mm. As a model in the Explorer series, the bearing features a sheet steel cage and standard radial clearance. The design covers a temperature range from –30 to +200 degrees and is designed for continuous use in mechanical engineering.
This double-row bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The 22334 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial forces whilst reliably absorbing axial forces in both directions. The design, which does not feature an integrated seal, allows for a continuous supply of grease or lubricating oil via external bearing housings, thereby minimising friction and heat build-up under heavy loads.
The suffix W33 denotes an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This enables direct and uniform relubrication of the rolling elements during operation. Combined with the increased running accuracy of tolerance class P5, the rolling elements operate with particularly low vibration, whilst the dimensional accuracy PN facilitates standardised installation in machined housing seats. The dimensions 170 x 360 x 120 mm are relevant for the design.
The suffix CC denotes a version with a sheet steel cage and symmetrical rollers. The suffix W33 refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This design facilitates the supply of lubricant directly into the working area of the roller bearing.
With an internal diameter of 170 mm, an external diameter of 360 mm and a width of 120 mm, this version is one of the larger-sized spherical roller bearings. Before installation, these mounting dimensions must be checked against the shaft and housing tolerances specified in the design.
SKF Explorer bearings are made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and feature optimised internal surfaces. The geometry is designed to distribute stresses across the rows of rollers. Combined with P5 precision, this contributes to smooth running under demanding loads.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. As this is an unsealed bearing with a sheet steel cage, there are no elastomeric sealing lips to limit its temperature resistance. The actual operating limit is determined primarily by the temperature stability of the selected grease or oil.
As an open design without integrated seals, the bearing requires a sealed housing to protect it from contamination. Relubrication is carried out via the W33 lubrication groove and lubrication holes in the outer ring. This ensures that the lubricant is distributed evenly between the rows of rollers.
The dimensional accuracy PN corresponds to the standard tolerance for key dimensions such as bore and outer diameters. The running accuracy P5, on the other hand, offers tighter tolerances with regard to concentricity and parallelism. This combination ensures precise concentricity whilst maintaining a standardised fit design for the housing and shaft.
