The SKF 22332 CC/C3W33 spherical roller bearing, with dimensions of 160 × 340 × 114 mm, can accommodate high radial and axial loads in the presence of misalignment.
The SKF 22332 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for heavy mechanical loads. With a bore of 160 mm, an outer diameter of 340 mm and a width of 114 mm, this roller bearing is suitable for industrial applications involving combined loads. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the design automatically compensates for shaft misalignment. As an open bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, it is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing is used in demanding industrial applications where shaft deflection or misalignment between bearing locations occurs. As the bearing accommodates radial forces as well as axial forces acting on both sides, it supports rotating shafts during operation. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical rollers and contributes to low-friction operation.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance. This variant is recommended where a reduction in radial clearance during operation is to be expected due to tight fits or temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. The designation W33 indicates a circumferential groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. Lubricant can be fed directly between the rows of rollers via these openings. In combination with the P5 precision class, the bearing also meets high requirements for concentricity.
This roller bearing has two rows of symmetrical rollers on a common hollow-spherical outer ring raceway. It automatically compensates for angular misalignment and shaft deflection. The CC version features a sheet steel cage, whilst the W33 designation indicates a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The bearing has a bore of 160 mm, an outside diameter of 340 mm and a width across flats of 114 mm. Before fitting, the dimensions of the shaft and bearing housing should be checked against these mounting dimensions to ensure a correct fit.
C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance in the initial state compared with the standard bearing clearance. This design is intended for operating conditions in which heat build-up during operation or tight fits restrict the bearing clearance. The additional clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from jamming.
The designation W33 indicates a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring of the bearing. This allows grease or oil to flow directly into the interior of the bearing, between the two rows of rollers, during relubrication. This simplifies maintenance and ensures an even supply of lubricant to all contact surfaces.
This combination means that the bearing’s main dimensions comply with standard tolerances (PN), whilst the concentricity is manufactured to the tighter P5 tolerance class. This reduces radial and axial runout during operation, resulting in smoother shaft rotation.
The bearing, which is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, is designed for temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, the lubricant and external housing seals must be selected to suit the relevant temperature range.
