The SKF 22322 EK/C3 self-aligning roller bearing (110x240x80 mm), with a tapered bore, C3 clearance and a sheet steel cage, offers high load-carrying capacity even with misalignment.
The SKF 22322 EK/C3 self-aligning roller bearing accommodates heavy radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The version made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel covers a temperature range from -30 to +200 degrees. With dimensional accuracy class PN and enhanced running accuracy to class P5, this open bearing meets demanding concentricity requirements.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel use this size primarily in heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and high-load shaft bearings. Wherever high impact loads occur or housing components deform slightly under load, the angle-adjustable design helps to prevent edge stresses. The integrated lubrication groove, together with the lubrication holes in the outer ring, ensures a direct and even supply of grease or oil to the roller sets during maintenance.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This design allows for mounting directly onto tapered shaft seats or, using mounting and withdrawal sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts. When slid onto the tapered seat, the inner ring expands in a controlled manner, causing the radial bearing clearance to decrease in a controlled way. The factory-set increased bearing clearance class C3 ensures that sufficient operating clearance is maintained after the radial interference fit has been achieved and under operating conditions where the bearing heats up.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 240 mm and a width of 80 mm. The bore has a taper ratio of 1:12, which allows it to be fitted onto clamping sleeves or directly onto tapered shaft journals.
C3 denotes a radial bearing clearance that is greater than normal at the time of delivery. This reserve is useful for bearings with a tapered bore, as the bearing clearance is reduced during operation due to axial clamping on the tapered seat and temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The outer ring of the bearing is fitted with a circumferential lubrication groove and lubrication holes. Lubricant can be applied directly between the two rows of rollers via these openings. As this is an unsealed bearing, the surrounding housing must provide a seal against dirt and lubricant loss.
The integrated sheet steel cage separates the barrel-shaped rollers from one another and guides the rolling elements through the load zones. The sheet steel design combines a low weight with dimensional stability and is suitable for operating temperatures of up to +200 degrees.
In terms of its main dimensions, the SKF bearing complies with the standard tolerance PN. It is manufactured to the P5 precision class, which has tighter tolerances, ensuring smooth and low-vibration operation on rotating shafts.
