The 22322 E spherical roller bearing from SKF, measuring 110 × 240 × 80 mm, can accommodate heavy radial loads and compensates for misalignment.
The 22322 E self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) for demanding mechanical applications. With a bore of 110 mm, an outer diameter of 240 mm and a width of 80 mm, the component automatically compensates for angular misalignment and deflection of rotating shafts. The open-type design in SKF Explorer quality combines proven bearing geometry with a robust sheet steel cage. The model is characterised by dimensional accuracy PN and enhanced running accuracy of class P5.
It is primarily used where high radial forces act on rotating shafts and where misalignment or elastic deflection needs to be compensated for. Thanks to its permissible operating temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the bearing remains operational even under thermal stress. The open design allows for direct lubrication via centralised lubrication circuits using grease or lubricating oil.
This model combines standard dimensional tolerances in accordance with Class PN with a tighter running accuracy tolerance in accordance with Class P5, which promotes smooth and low-vibration concentricity. Fresh lubricant is fed directly between the rollers and raceways via the lubrication groove integrated into the outer ring, complete with matching lubrication holes. This facilitates scheduled relubrication whilst the bearing is in operation. The design, featuring standard radial bearing clearance, provides a balanced operating clearance for standard fit conditions.
With an internal diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 240 mm and a width of 80 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions of the 22322 series. It is made of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and is designed as an open bearing without integrated sealing washers.
The dimensional accuracy of the bearing complies with the PN standard class, whilst its running accuracy is manufactured to the tighter P5 tolerance class. This means that run-out errors on the inner and outer rings are minimised. In practice, this helps to reduce vibration and ensures smooth running.
Lubricant is supplied via the lubrication groove running around the outer ring and radial lubrication holes. Grease or lubricating oil is fed directly into the bearing interior, thereby rapidly renewing the lubricant film. As there are no integrated seals, external housing seals seal off the lubrication point.
The specified operating temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees. The integrated sheet steel cage and the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. At higher operating temperatures, care must be taken to ensure that the selected lubricant is suitable for the temperature levels encountered.
The standard radial bearing clearance defines the manufacturer’s specified radial clearance between the roller elements and raceways when the bearing is in its unassembled state. It helps to ensure that a functional operating clearance is maintained after the bearing has been pressed onto the 110 mm shaft and following heat build-up during operation. It is suitable for standard fits.
SKF’s Explorer design features an optimised internal geometry and a refined surface finish on the raceways and rollers. In conjunction with the precision-machined sheet steel cage, this design reduces internal friction. This helps to ensure an even load distribution along the length of the rollers.
