The SKF 22230 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 150 × 270 × 73 mm, withstands heavy radial loads and compensates for shaft misalignment.
The SKF 22230 CC/C3W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for demanding mechanical loads. It supports shafts under combined loads and automatically compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and featuring a slightly increased C3 clearance, this design is particularly well-suited to thermal variations during operation. The open design allows for direct lubricant supply via the surrounding housing system.
This self-aligning roller bearing is designed for applications involving heavy radial forces and axial forces acting in both directions. Thanks to its angularly adjustable design, the bearing accommodates elastic shaft deflection and misalignment without generating harmful edge stresses. As it is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +200 degrees, it retains its dimensional stability even in warm environments. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements precisely under continuous, long-term loads.
The suffix C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared to the standard. This clearance helps to prevent stress build-up if the shaft heats up more than the housing during operation. The designation W33 describes an integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring, which facilitates relubrication whilst the bearing is installed. Whilst the dimensional accuracy complies with class PN, the running accuracy to P5 ensures smooth concentricity.
This roller bearing has a bore of 150 mm, an outer diameter of 270 mm and a width of 73 mm. With these standardised dimensions, the bearing fits into suitable industrial housings and bearing seats for heavy-duty machine shafts.
The designation W33 indicates a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This allows lubricant to flow directly between the two rows of rollers into the bearing interior. This simplifies regular relubrication during operation and promotes even distribution of the lubricant.
Increased radial bearing clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion between the inner and outer rings. If the shaft heats up more than the housing, or if a tight fit reduces the radial clearance, the C3 clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the robust sheet steel cage retain their stability throughout this range. For continuous operation, a lubricant must be selected that is suitable for these temperatures.
This is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers. This design is intended for housings with external seals, such as labyrinth seals or shaft seals, and allows for the unimpeded exchange of lubricant via central oil or grease systems.
Whilst the connection dimensions comply with the standard PN tolerance, the P5 running accuracy ensures tighter concentricity tolerances. This reduces vibrations during operation and ensures precise guidance of the shaft.
