The SKF 22212 EK open spherical roller bearing, with a 60 mm tapered bore, can accommodate high radial loads and compensates for misalignment during operation.
The 22212 EK self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel for demanding industrial applications. With an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 28 mm, the design offers a compact form factor combined with high load-carrying capacity. The open bearing design allows for flexible choice of lubricant during operation. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the roller set self-aligns, thereby compensating for misalignment and shaft deflection.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel prefer to use this bearing design in heavily loaded shaft mountings where misalignment caused by manufacturing or load factors occurs. The design is suitable for combined loads with a high radial component. Thanks to the sheet steel cage and its suitability for a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the bearing remains operational even under varying thermal environmental conditions. A circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring allows for direct relubrication with grease or oil.
The suffix ‘EK’ denotes the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12, as well as an optimised internal design in SKF Explorer quality. This bore shape allows direct mounting on a tapered shaft seat or, using a collet, on a cylindrical shaft. The remaining radial clearance can be finely adjusted during installation by axially sliding the bearing onto the shaft. The combination of standard dimensional accuracy PN and running accuracy P5 ensures precise concentricity.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 60 mm at the bore, an external diameter of 110 mm and a width across flats of 28 mm. The internal bore is tapered with a taper ratio of 1:12, suitable for tapered shaft seats or standardised clamping and withdrawal sleeves.
The letter K denotes the tapered internal bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. The letter E stands for the optimised internal design of the SKF Explorer series, which is engineered for high load-carrying capacity and optimised running characteristics.
This roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. In terms of tolerances, this design combines standard dimensional accuracy in accordance with Class PN with a tighter running accuracy in accordance with Class P5, ensuring smooth running and reduced vibration during operation.
As an open bearing, the product does not have any integrated sealing washers. The outer ring features a circumferential lubrication groove and lubrication holes, through which lubricant can be applied directly between the rows of rollers. The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
A robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements. This type of cage is suitable for the specified operating temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees and is compatible with all standard mineral oil- and synthetic-based lubricants.
