The SKF 22330 CCK/W33 spherical roller bearing combines a 150 mm tapered bore with P5 running accuracy for demanding heavy-duty applications.
The 22330 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open, double-row rolling bearing in the SKF Explorer performance class. It accommodates high radial forces as well as axial loads acting in both directions and automatically compensates for misalignment or shaft deflection. With key dimensions of a 150 mm bore, 320 mm outer diameter and 108 mm width, this version, made from 100Cr6 bearing steel, meets industrial requirements within a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing is primarily used in heavy-duty industrial gearboxes and general mechanical engineering assemblies subject to high radial forces. Thanks to the hollow spherical raceway of the outer ring, the bearing compensates for misalignment between the inner and outer rings without causing an unacceptable increase in friction. The sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical barrel rollers precisely, even under varying loads, whilst the open design facilitates flexible operation in housings lubricated with oil or grease on site.
The suffix ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. This geometry allows for fixed mounting directly onto tapered shaft seats or, using shrink sleeves and withdrawal sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts. Fresh lubricant is fed directly into the bearing assembly via the W33 lubrication groove and the lubrication holes in the outer ring. Together with the increased P5 running accuracy combined with standard dimensional accuracy PN, this design ensures low-vibration concentricity in rotating machinery.
The letter combination describes key design features: CC stands for window-type sheet steel cages and a flangeless inner ring; the K indicates a tapered bore with a 1:12 taper; and W33 denotes a lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring.
The roller bearing has an inside diameter of 150 mm, an outside diameter of 320 mm and a width across flats of 108 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised 223 series for self-aligning roller bearings.
Fitting is carried out either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, using a suitable mounting or withdrawal sleeve, onto a smooth shaft. As the bearing is pushed onto the shaft, the radial bearing clearance is reduced in a controlled manner, resulting in a tight fit.
The bearing combines the standard dimensional accuracy (PN) of the bore and outer ring with a restricted running accuracy in accordance with tolerance class P5. As a result, the assembly achieves improved concentricity with standardised mounting dimensions.
As this is an open bearing without integrated seals, a suitable grease or lubricating oil must be applied before commissioning. The W33 system allows the roller bearing to be relubricated as required during operation.
The design, comprising fully hardened 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and a sheet steel cage, is rated for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees. In practice, the maximum operating temperature is essentially determined by the lubricant selected.
