The SKF 24036 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 180 × 280 × 100 mm, accommodates heavy radial loads and axial forces and compensates for misalignment.
The SKF 24036 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is designed for demanding industrial applications involving high radial loads and axial forces acting in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design, this open rolling bearing offers a standard radial clearance. Thanks to its angularly adjustable design, it compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. A robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements securely. With a permissible temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees, the bearing is suitable for thermally demanding industrial environments.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians use this design primarily in heavily loaded industrial gearboxes and heavy-duty drive trains. The design proves its worth wherever shaft deflection or misalignment between the shaft and housing occurs under high loads. The open bearing design allows for flexible integration into on-site lubrication systems. As it is suitable for temperatures up to +200 degrees, the rolling bearing can also be used in high-heat environments.
The suffix W33 denotes an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This facilitates targeted relubrication during operation, as lubricant is delivered directly between the roller sets. The combination of dimensional accuracy PN and restricted running accuracy P5 ensures low-vibration, smooth running with even load distribution. When designing the application, ensure that a suitable external seal is fitted and that the lubricant is supplied correctly to protect the open bearing from contamination.
With a cylindrical bore of 180 mm, an external diameter of 280 mm and a width of 100 mm, the bearing has defined main dimensions. These dimensions determine its fit on the shaft and in the housing. Before installation, carefully check the mating dimensions of the surrounding machine parts.
The designation W33 refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes on the outer ring. This feature allows grease or lubricating oil to be introduced directly and evenly into the bearing interior, without the lubricant having to be channelled past the components from the side.
SKF bearings with the suffix ‘CC’ feature symmetrical rollers and two robust window cages made of sheet steel. An inner ring without a guide flange ensures low-friction guidance of the rolling elements under varying load conditions. This design promotes even load distribution during operation.
The permissible temperature range extends from -30 to +200 degrees. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel and fitted with a sheet steel cage, the component can withstand both cooler ambient conditions and elevated process temperatures. Always select the lubricant to be used to suit the actual operating temperature of the bearing location.
Whilst the dimensional accuracy corresponds to the standard PN class, the P5 tolerance class offers improved running accuracy. A lower run-out error reduces vibrations and ensures a smoother rolling motion of the roller bodies. This protects connected components and promotes smooth operation in demanding industrial plants.
As the 24036 CC/W33 spherical roller bearing does not have integrated sealing washers, the surrounding housing must provide a seal against dirt and moisture. Apply fresh lubricant directly via the W33 lubrication groove in the outer ring. Regular relubrication and clean installation protect the bearing interior from premature wear.
