The SKF 23036 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing combines a 180 mm bore, a 1:12 tapered seat and a W33 lubrication groove for heavy-duty industrial applications.
The SKF 23036 CCK/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for high mechanical loads and to compensate for angular misalignment. With an inside diameter of 180 mm, an outside diameter of 280 mm and a width of 74 mm, the design is suitable for heavy-duty industrial shaft mountings. Manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel in the SKF Explorer design, the bearing features a standard radial clearance and a robust sheet steel cage. As an open design without integrated seals, the bearing is rated for a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees.
This double-row roller bearing is designed for mounting arrangements subject to high radial forces and axial forces acting in both directions. The barrel-shaped rollers adjust freely within the hollow spherical outer ring raceway, thereby automatically compensating for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. In conjunction with the improved running accuracy of tolerance class P5 and standard tolerance PN for the main dimensions, the design contributes to low-vibration concentricity under continuous load.
The tapered internal bore, with a taper ratio of 1:12, allows mounting on tapered shaft seats as well as on cylindrical shafts using clamping or withdrawal sleeves. During axial mounting, the remaining bearing clearance can be precisely controlled by the manner in which the bearing is slid onto the shaft. The W33 feature denotes a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This enables the direct supply of lubricant between the rows of rollers in the open bearing and facilitates continuous relubrication.
This designation describes a double-row spherical roller bearing with a bore of 180 mm, an outer diameter of 280 mm and a width of 74 mm. The ‘K’ denotes the tapered bore with a ratio of 1:12. The suffix ‘W33’ indicates a lubrication groove in the outer ring with lubrication holes for relubrication.
The lubricant is fed directly from the outside between the two rows of rollers via the lubrication groove and lubrication holes integrated into the outer ring. This promotes an even distribution of the lubricant across the raceways and simplifies the regular relubrication of the open roller bearing within the housing.
The bearing is mounted either directly onto a tapered shaft seat or, on a cylindrical shaft, using a locking or withdrawal sleeve. When slid onto the shaft with controlled axial force, the inner ring expands, allowing the required radial clearance to be precisely adjusted during assembly.
PN denotes standard tolerances for the main dimensions – bore, outside diameter and width – whilst P5 defines enhanced running accuracy with reduced concentricity and axial run-out deviations. This combination ensures smooth and consistent running under demanding operating conditions.
The bearing, made from 100Cr6 roller bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, is designed for operating temperatures between -30 and +200 degrees. With this open design, which has no integrated seals, lubricants and external housing seals must be selected to suit the actual operating temperature of the specific application.
The sheet steel construction maintains the barrel-shaped rollers at a uniform distance and guides the set of rolling elements. The cage is characterised by its low weight and allows the lubricant supplied via the W33 system to reach the rolling elements and raceways unhindered.
