The FAG 23938 -S-K-MB self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 190 x 260 x 52 mm, with a brass cage and tapered bore, offers a robust solution for demanding industrial applications.
The FAG 23938 -S-K-MB self-aligning roller bearing is a double-row roller bearing designed for high radial loads combined with simultaneous axial forces. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. The open bearing, made from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, has standard radial clearance and is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees Celsius.
This rolling bearing is used in demanding industrial applications where heavy radial forces and combined axial loads occur. Wherever high loads act on shafts with a diameter of 190 mm and operational shaft deflection or misalignment needs to be compensated for, this design ensures smooth running. The integrated lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring facilitates relubrication during operation, ensuring that lubricant reaches both sets of rollers directly.
The design with a tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 allows for precise mounting directly onto tapered shaft seats or using suitable clamping and withdrawal sleeves. The radial operating clearance can be precisely adjusted during installation via the axial displacement. The solid brass cage guides the rolling elements accurately, even under vibration or shock loads. As an open component without an integrated seal, the bearing requires external sealing of the bearing housing.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 190 mm, an external diameter of 260 mm and a width of 52 mm. Thanks to its favourable ratio of overall height to load-carrying capacity, this series is particularly suitable for compact installation spaces subject to high loads.
The symbol ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a standard taper of 1:12. This design facilitates fitting onto tapered shaft journals or securing to cylindrical shafts using a clamping and withdrawal sleeve.
The solid brass cage, identified by the suffix ‘MB’, maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements. Brass is characterised by high strength, good emergency running properties and resistance to vibrations, which makes it suitable for use in harsh conditions.
The outer ring is fitted as standard with a circumferential lubrication groove and lubrication holes. These openings allow fresh lubricant to be applied directly between the two rows of rollers, which helps to ensure an even supply to the raceways.
The bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +200 degrees Celsius. The 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability and mechanical strength within this temperature range.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. When the tapered inner ring is pressed onto the shaft, this radial clearance is reduced in a controlled manner, thereby establishing the final operating clearance fit.
