The SKF 23236 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing, with a 180 mm bore and P5 precision, offers high load-carrying capacity for demanding industrial applications.
The 23236 CC/W33 self-aligning roller bearing is an open roller bearing designed for heavy-duty industrial applications. Manufactured from standard bearing steel (100Cr6), it automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. With an outer diameter of 320 mm and a width of 112 mm, the bearing can accommodate very high radial forces as well as combined axial loads in both directions. A sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical rollers at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +200 degrees.
The internal design promotes even load distribution across the rolling elements, which reduces stress on the material under continuous loading.
Thanks to the hollow spherical raceway of the outer ring, this component accommodates misalignment between the shaft and housing without causing harmful edge stresses. The combination of standard radial clearance and increased P5 running accuracy is suitable for applications where precise guidance of the rotating inner ring is required. As the inner ring is fixed to the shaft, the precise running accuracy ensures smooth operation even under varying load conditions.
The suffix W33 denotes an annular lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This design facilitates the supply of lubricant during operation, as grease or lubricating oil is fed directly between the two rows of rollers. As an open bearing, this design has no factory-fitted seals. To ensure reliable operation, suitable seals must be fitted in the surrounding bearing housing to retain the lubricant within the bearing chamber and prevent the ingress of contaminants.
This roller bearing has the main dimensions 180 × 320 × 112 mm and is made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements. In addition to PN dimensional accuracy, the bearing offers increased running accuracy to tolerance class P5, as well as standard radial clearance.
The designation W33 refers to a circumferential lubrication groove with lubrication holes in the outer ring. This design allows lubricant to be fed directly into the bearing, enabling grease or oil to reach the rows of rolling elements immediately.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +200 degrees. The standard roller bearing steel used retains its dimensional stability within this range, provided that the lubricant used is approved for the relevant temperature range.
No, this is an open roller bearing without its own sealing washers. For use in dusty or damp environments, external housing seals are required to protect the interior of the bearing from foreign particles and to keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
This specification combines standardised dimensional tolerances of class PN with a tighter concentricity tolerance in accordance with P5. The key dimensions for the bore, outside diameter and width comply with the standard, whilst the raceways are machined to ensure increased concentricity accuracy.
