The SKF 21307 CC self-aligning roller bearing, measuring 35x80x21 mm and with a P5 precision rating, offers high load-carrying capacity for angular misalignment.
As a double-row roller bearing, the SKF 21307 CC self-aligning roller bearing accommodates high radial loads as well as combined axial forces. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, this design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. This open roller bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, features a sheet steel cage and, in the SKF Explorer version, is designed for demanding applications. The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +200 degrees.
This self-aligning roller bearing is particularly recommended for demanding shaft mountings subject to high radial loads, where shaft deflection or misalignment may occur. As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied from the side by design. The open bearing allows for flexible lubricant selection – either grease or industrial oil – tailored to the ambient conditions and the thermal load in the respective unit.
With this bearing, the manufacturer combines the standard dimensional accuracy PN with the restricted running accuracy P5. This contributes to low-vibration concentricity on guided shafts, as dimensional deviations and radial runout are reduced. The main dimensions are a 35 mm bore, an 80 mm outer diameter and a 21 mm width. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing is suitable for normal operating temperatures and fixed shaft seats.
With an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 80 mm and a width of 21 mm, the bearing complies with standard industrial dimensions. These dimensions are crucial for ensuring a precise fit on the shaft and within the bearing housing.
The Explorer version features an optimised internal geometry, high-quality 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and a refined surface finish on the rolling elements and raceways. These characteristics reduce friction and wear during operation. As a result, the bearing is less susceptible to shock loads and ensures a long service life even under demanding operating conditions.
In this specific design, the outer ring has a smooth finish, so that lubricant is not supplied centrally across the outer ring. Lubrication with grease or oil takes place directly via the installation space, passing alongside the rolling elements into the interior of the bearing.
The open bearing is suitable for a temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The integrated sheet steel cage and the dimensionally stable roller bearing steel can withstand these temperatures. However, at higher operating temperatures, a lubricant with the appropriate temperature resistance must be selected.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance of the rollers when the bearing is unloaded prior to installation. This standard clearance is entirely sufficient for conventional fits and moderate temperature differences between the inner and outer rings to prevent the rolling elements from seizing up during operation.
The sheet steel cage guides the symmetrical oscillating rollers with precision and keeps the bearing’s own weight low. It is characterised by good temperature resistance up to +200 degrees and requires little installation space, thereby ensuring that a sufficient volume of lubricant is maintained between the rolling elements.
