The FAG 2306-TVH self-aligning ball bearing (30 × 72 × 27 mm) compensates for misalignment and features two rows of balls guided by a lightweight polyamide cage.
The FAG 2306-TVH self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with an inner diameter of 30 mm and an outer diameter of 72 mm. Its hollow-spherical outer ring raceway allows both rows of balls to be adjusted in the event of misalignment or shaft deflection. Thanks to the 100Cr6 material and dimensional tolerances to P0/PN (ABEC 1), the bearing is suitable for precision industrial applications. With a width of 27 mm, the bearing accommodates radial and moderate axial loads in both directions.
This rolling bearing is used wherever elastic shafts or housing inaccuracies lead to angular misalignment. As the outer ring forms a continuous spherical shell, the rolling elements tilt without additional constraint stresses. Typical applications include bearings prone to deflection or misalignment in general mechanical engineering. In this open design, lubricant is supplied externally, whilst the surrounding housing provides protection against contamination.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a polyamide cage. This material reduces the inertial forces of the rotating rolling elements and promotes quiet operation. The permissible temperature range is between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance (CN), the unit is suitable for typical operating temperatures and installation conditions. In the open design, the lubricant is selected to suit the specific operating environment.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 27 mm. Before installation, it is advisable to check the shaft shoulder and the housing bore to ensure a precise fit between the inner and outer rings in the case of a cylindrical bore.
The outer ring has a continuous hollow spherical raceway in which the two rows of balls can move freely relative to the inner ring. During operation, the bearing compensates for misalignment between the shaft and the housing, as well as elastic deflection, thereby reducing the build-up of edge stresses and increased friction.
At FAG, the suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a polyamide cage. Cages made from this plastic are lightweight, dampen vibrations and ensure quiet operation. They are designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As this bearing is manufactured without integrated sealing washers, it is not pre-filled with grease by the manufacturer. Lubrication is provided by the unit via an oil bath, recirculating lubrication or by manually applying a suitable rolling-element bearing grease during initial assembly.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This tolerance class meets the accuracy requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering for shafts and housings.
The component has the standard radial bearing clearance CN. This standard operating clearance provides radial clearance between the rolling elements and the raceways. At normal operating temperatures, this clearance serves to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed and to ensure low-friction operation.
