The SKF 2210 ETN9 double-row self-aligning ball bearing, measuring 50x90x23 mm, compensates for misalignment and ensures quiet shaft operation.
The SKF 2210 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing designed for applications where misalignment or shaft deflection occurs. Thanks to the hollow-spherical outer ring raceway, the two rows of balls self-align automatically during operation. With a bore of 50 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm, the component complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. It is made of roller bearing steel (100Cr6) and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
The bearing is used when manufacturing-related misalignments or elastic deformations of the shaft need to be compensated for. In designs with separate bearing housings or larger bearing spacings, the rows of balls tilt freely within the outer ring. This helps to prevent excessive edge pressures on the rolling elements. The open design allows for application-specific lubrication via external grease or oil lubrication systems.
The designation ETN9 stands for a polyamide cage. This material reduces the rotating mass of the rolling element guide, thereby promoting smooth running. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing is suitable for standard fits within the specified temperature range. As the open design has no integrated seals, protection against contamination must be provided by the surrounding housing structure.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 50 mm, an external diameter of 90 mm and a width of 23 mm. These dimensions allow the component to be fitted precisely onto cylindrical shafts. Before fitting, it is advisable to check the bearing seat against tolerance class P0/PN.
ETN9 denotes the version with a polyamide cage. The plastic cage reduces the moment of inertia during acceleration and guides the balls precisely. Furthermore, the material retains its dimensional stability within the permissible temperature range of up to +120 degrees.
The outer ring has a single, hollow-spherical raceway for both rows of balls. This allows the inner ring, with its ball and cage seats, to tilt freely within the outer ring. Misalignments or deflections of the rotating shaft are compensated for directly within the bearing, without placing localised overloads on the raceways.
As the bearing is designed as an open type without sealing washers, apply grease or lubricating oil via the housing. The lubricant can be precisely tailored to the rotational speeds and load conditions of your system. The surrounding housing must prevent the lubricant from leaking out.
The roller bearing is designed for ambient temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is limited by the polyamide cage fitted. To prevent thermal damage, the lubricant used must also be approved for this temperature range.
The bearing has the standard radial clearance. This design is intended for standard applications with typical shaft and housing fits. It ensures that, once the bearing rings have been pressed into place, there is sufficient clearance to allow the bearing to run smoothly.
