The SKF 2206 EKTN9/C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing (30x62x20 mm) flexibly compensates for misalignment and features a tapered bore and C3 clearance.
The SKF 2206 EKTN9/C3 self-aligning ball bearing belongs to the group of self-aligning rolling bearings. Thanks to the common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing accommodates misalignment between the shaft and the housing. The component is made of standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6) and is operated in an open design without integrated seals. A lightweight polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration. This design is suitable for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The bearing is used where elastic shaft deflection or misalignment occurs. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with long shaft runs or applications with manufacturing-related misalignments. Thanks to its double-row design, the bearing accommodates radial forces and moderate axial forces in both directions. As this is an open bearing, users can flexibly determine the type of lubricant and relubrication intervals via the surrounding bearing housing.
The tapered bore (1:12 taper) allows mounting directly onto a tapered shaft seat or, using a suitable mounting or withdrawal sleeve, onto cylindrical shafts. During installation, the inner ring is pushed on axially, which reduces the internal bearing clearance. The factory-set increased radial bearing clearance (C3) helps to ensure that the required operating clearance is maintained after press-fitting and under operational heating. The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1).
A double-row roller bearing with a 30 mm bore, 62 mm outer diameter and 20 mm width. Thanks to the spherical outer ring raceway, it dynamically compensates for angular misalignment between the inner and outer rings. It features a tapered inner bore, increased C3 clearance and a polyamide cage.
The designation is broken down into several technical characteristics: ‘K’ denotes a tapered bore with a 1:12 taper. The suffix ‘TN9’ stands for a polyamide cage, whilst ‘C3’ indicates a radial bearing clearance that is greater than the standard.
A self-aligning ball bearing with a tapered bore is mounted either directly onto a tapered shaft journal or, with the aid of a clamping or withdrawal sleeve, onto a smooth cylindrical shaft. A tight fit is achieved by axially sliding the inner ring, which reduces the radial bearing clearance in a controlled manner.
Polyamide cages are lightweight and offer good damping properties. They help to ensure smooth running and reduce the acceleration forces acting on the rolling elements. With this cage material, the permissible continuous operating temperature of the bearing ranges from -30 to +120 degrees.
Yes, as this is an open roller bearing without sealing washers, it is not pre-lubricated with grease at the factory. Before initial commissioning, it must be lubricated with a suitable rolling-element bearing grease or oil via the surrounding housing; regular relubrication is also required, depending on the operating conditions.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This precision class is the established industry standard for the vast majority of applications in general mechanical and plant engineering.
