The SKF 1313 EKTN9/C3 double-row self-aligning ball bearing, with a tapered bore and C3 clearance, compensates for misalignment in 65 mm diameter shafts during operation.
The SKF 1313 EKTN9/C3 self-aligning ball bearing is an open, double-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6). Thanks to the common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, the bearing self-aligns. It thus compensates for misalignment between the inner ring and the outer ring. With dimensions of 65 mm bore, 140 mm outer diameter and 33 mm width, this design is suitable for demanding bearing applications in industrial machinery and plant engineering. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements evenly.
Designs featuring long shafts or flexible housings are prone to deflection and misalignment under load. The 1313 EKTN9/C3 self-aligning ball bearing accommodates such misalignments with angular movement without causing excessive edge pressures on the raceways. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering where shaft deflection occurs, as well as in bearing arrangements with static or dynamic misalignment. As this is an unsealed bearing, designers prefer to use the component in lubricated housings with external seals.
The tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12 enables secure mounting directly onto tapered shaft journals or, using suitable adapter sleeves, onto cylindrical shafts. When the bearing is axially slid onto the tapered seat, the radial clearance is measurably reduced. The increased C3 bearing clearance compensates for this loss of mounting clearance as well as operational thermal expansion within the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The polyamide cage also reduces the component weight and promotes smooth running.
The roller bearing has an inside diameter of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 140 mm and a width of 33 mm. Thanks to the double-row arrangement of the rolling elements, the radial load is distributed evenly across both rows of balls within the 100Cr6 steel housing.
The suffix ‘K’ refers to the tapered bore with a taper ratio of 1:12. The abbreviation ‘TN9’ denotes the dimensionally stable polyamide cage, whilst ‘C3’ describes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance in the initial state. The letter E stands for an optimised internal design.
A tapered bore facilitates mounting on smooth cylindrical shafts using a collet, or directly onto stepped, tapered shaft seats. The defined axial movement along the taper allows the operating clearance of the bearing assembly to be adjusted with precision and repeatability during assembly.
This bearing is approved for use within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The polyamide cage and the standard rolling-bearing steel retain their mechanical properties within this temperature range, provided that a suitable lubricant is used for the respective operating temperature.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not feature any factory-fitted sealing washers. Lubrication is provided via the surrounding machine housing, either with grease or lubricating oil. To protect against external contaminants and moisture, an application-specific external seal on the relevant housing cover is recommended.
This roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0, or standard tolerance (PN), which is equivalent to the international ABEC 1 classification. This manufacturing precision meets all standard requirements of conventional mechanical and plant engineering and complies with standardised mounting dimensions when selecting fits for shafts and housing bores.
