The SKF 2202 ETN9 double-row self-aligning ball bearing compensates for misalignment and has an inner diameter of 15 mm, an outer diameter of 35 mm and a bearing width of 14 mm.
The SKF 2202 ETN9 self-aligning ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing with a common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring. This design allows the inner ring to tilt relative to the outer ring, enabling the bearing to automatically compensate for angular misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) to standard tolerance P0/PN or ABEC 1, the version with a cylindrical bore is suitable for a wide range of machine designs in industrial applications.
This self-aligning ball bearing is primarily selected for bearing arrangements where there are housing misalignments or where shafts deflect elastically under load. Relevant areas of application can be found in general mechanical engineering in systems with larger bearing spacings. As the bearing is of an open design, external seals in the housing provide protection against dirt, whilst grease or lubricating oil reaches the rolling elements directly.
The suffix ETN9 denotes a lightweight polyamide cage that precisely guides the rows of balls and promotes smooth running. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance, this roller bearing covers a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees. In terms of design, the material is characterised by its low weight. Prior to installation, the mounting dimensions of 15x35x14 mm and the housing seal must be checked for compatibility.
This double-row bearing automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection, as the outer ring has a continuous hollow-spherical raceway. Fitted with a polyamide cage and manufactured from 100Cr6 steel, it operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. The open design allows for flexible lubrication via the surrounding housing.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 15 mm, an external diameter of 35 mm and a total width of 14 mm. The cylindrical bore is of standard design and fits directly onto corresponding shaft seats. It is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
In this bearing, the designation ETN9 refers to a polyamide cage that guides the balls with precision. The polyamide material reduces the cage’s weight and helps ensure quiet operation. The permissible temperature range for this type of cage is from -30 to +120 degrees.
This model has the standard radial bearing clearance. The bearing clearance determines the internal radial play of the rolling elements between the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unmounted. It is suitable for conventional mounting conditions without extreme interference fits or significant temperature differences between the rings.
As this bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, lubricant reaches the raceways and rolling elements unimpeded. Protection against dirt and moisture must be provided by the housing design, for example by means of shaft seals or labyrinth seals. Depending on the operating requirements, suitable rolling-element bearing greases or lubricating oils may be used as lubricants.
Whilst a deep-groove ball bearing has rigid raceways and hardly compensates for misalignment, the self-aligning ball bearing dynamically compensates for misalignment. Its two rows of balls move on a common spherical outer ring raceway. This allows the inner ring to tilt when the shaft deflects without causing harmful edge pressure, which improves the reliability of the bearing arrangement.
