The FAG 2312-TVH self-aligning ball bearing, with dimensions of 60 × 130 × 46 mm, provides automatic angular compensation for shaft deflection.
The double-row self-aligning ball bearing 2312-TVH is an open rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a cylindrical bore. Thanks to the common hollow-spherical raceway in the outer ring, this design automatically compensates for misalignment and shaft deflection during operation. With an internal diameter of 60 mm, an external diameter of 130 mm and a width of 46 mm, the bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as minor axial forces.
This double-row bearing is primarily used in designs where there are manufacturing-related misalignments between the housing and the shaft, or where the elastic deflection of long shafts needs to be compensated for. Thanks to the spherical raceway in the outer ring, the rolling elements, together with the inner ring, pivot freely about the centre point without generating additional edge stresses. This ensures smooth running even in the event of slight housing deflection or angular misalignment.
The suffix ‘TVH’ denotes a polyamide rolling element cage which guides both rows of balls separately and prevents direct contact between the rolling elements. The material is characterised by its low weight and promotes smooth, low-friction operation. The open bearing without sealing washers is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. Lubrication is supplied via the surrounding housing, although external seals should be fitted to protect against contamination.
Two rows of balls roll on a shared spherical raceway in the outer ring. This geometry allows the balls, together with the inner ring, to pivot about the centre of the bearing. During operation, the bearing automatically compensates for misalignment or elastic deflection of the shaft without any localised overloads occurring.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 46 mm. It has a cylindrical bore and complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 in accordance with current standards for standard roller bearings.
The designation TVH indicates that the rolling element cage is made of polyamide. This material is characterised by its damping properties and reduces the moment of inertia of the guide elements. The cage can withstand operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
This bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance (CN). This radial clearance refers to the factory-set clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements prior to installation. The clearance is matched to standard shaft and housing fits, ensuring smooth, jam-free operation.
Open designs do not have any adjacent cover plates or sealing discs. This allows for a free choice of lubricant via the overarching housing system, for example in the case of oil bath lubrication or recirculating lubrication. For dusty or damp environments, external housing seals must be fitted to keep contaminants away from the raceways.
Both the two rows of balls and the bearing rings are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high dimensional stability and compressive strength under continuous rolling loads and is suitable for standard industrial applications.
