SKF NA4914 solid needle roller bearing: a single-row roller bearing with an inner ring measuring 70x100x30 mm for radially loaded shaft guides.
The SKF NA4914 solid needle roller bearing, as a single-row rolling bearing, accommodates high radial forces whilst maintaining a compact radial height. The unit comprises a machined outer ring, a needle roller cage with a sheet steel cage, and a removable inner ring. With a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 30 mm, this design is suitable for high-load bearing arrangements in mechanical and plant engineering.
It is primarily used in bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads where radial installation space is limited. As needle roller bearings are purely radial bearings, they absorb only radial forces and do not support shafts in the axial direction. This design is suitable for compact shaft bearings in general mechanical engineering and gearbox construction. Thanks to the supplied inner ring, the shaft does not require a separately prepared raceway, which simplifies the manufacturing process.
The separately mountable inner ring allows the inner and outer assemblies to be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. This facilitates assembly as well as subsequent maintenance work. To supply lubricant, the solid outer ring features a circumferential groove with lubrication holes. As the bearing is of an open design, users can tailor the lubricant and external housing seal precisely to the ambient conditions and the temperature range of -20 to +100 degrees.
With a bore diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 100 mm and a total width of 30 mm, the unit determines the required fit on the shaft as well as the appropriate bore in the housing for compact bearing arrangements.
The inner ring serves as a defined raceway for the needle rollers. Consequently, there are no specific requirements regarding the hardness or surface finish of the shaft. Furthermore, during assembly, the inner ring can be fitted onto the shaft separately before the housing component is fitted.
The outer ring is fitted with a circumferential lubrication groove and integrated lubrication holes. Grease or oil is fed directly into the needle roller cage via these lubrication channels without the need to dismantle the component. This helps to maintain the lubricating film during operation.
This version is manufactured with the standard radial bearing clearance, which is designed for typical fits and operating temperatures in industrial environments. The manufacturing accuracy complies with the standardised tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and covers standard applications in mechanical engineering.
The permissible operating temperature ranges from -20 to +100 degrees Celsius. In addition to the sheet steel cage, the choice of a lubricant that is approved for this temperature range and retains its properties is crucial for ensuring compliance with this range.
This is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers. In such designs, an external housing seal – such as a radial shaft seal – protects the bearing from dirt whilst also preventing the lubricant from escaping into the surrounding environment.
