The FAG HJ217-E steel angular ring, measuring 85 × 107.6 × 12.5 mm, is used for axial guidance in cylindrical roller bearings.
The HJ217-E angular ring acts as a separate flange for cylindrical roller bearings. It complements inner rings without a fixed rim to accommodate axial forces in one direction. Manufactured from steel, the ring fits directly onto the bearing raceway. This provides mechanical engineering designs with defined axial guidance under radial and single-sided axial loads.
This angular ring is primarily used in conjunction with cylindrical roller bearings when the bearing arrangement is intended to act as a support or fixed bearing. Together with an NJ-type bearing, the ring forms an additional shoulder on the inner ring. This enables the bearing arrangement to accommodate axial forces in both directions or to guide a shaft axially on one side without the need for separate housing covers.
The designation ‘-E’ indicates the reinforced design, tailored to modern high-performance bearings. The ring has a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 107.6 mm and a width of 12.5 mm. It lies flush against the end face of the bearing inner ring. During assembly, clean, flat surfaces ensure the even transmission of axial forces via the flange.
An angular ring serves as a loose outer ring for cylindrical roller bearings. It extends NJ series bearings to form a fixed bearing arrangement or provides single-sided axial support for shafts. Thanks to its flat-ground flange, it guides the rolling elements at the end face and absorbs axial loads directly at the shaft shoulder.
The component has an internal diameter of 85 mm, an external diameter of 107.6 mm and a width of 12.5 mm. These dimensions correspond to the mounting dimensions of the matching cylindrical roller bearings, to ensure a smooth transition to the raceway.
At FAG, the suffix -E denotes components designed for a reinforced bearing configuration. The dimensions and wall thicknesses of the angular ring are tailored to the higher load-carrying capacity of this generation of bearings. It is dimensionally compatible with the inner rings of the corresponding E variants.
FAG manufactures this component from steel. The material offers dimensional stability under load. As a result, the flange supports the radial start-up forces of the cylindrical rollers. The smooth contact surfaces help to reduce friction and wear at the contact points.
The ring is slid onto the shaft directly next to the inner ring of the cylindrical roller bearing. The flat side rests firmly against the end face of the inner ring, whilst the flange guides the rolling elements laterally. Ensure that the alignment is parallel to the axis and that the contact surfaces on the shaft are clean.
