The FAG 6009 -2RSR-C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 45 x 75 x 16 mm, offers double-sided sealing protection and increased bearing clearance for industrial applications subject to thermal stress.
The 6009 -2RSR-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing with a 45 mm bore, 75 mm outer diameter and 16 mm width. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing accommodates both radial and axial forces in both directions. Seals that run on both sides (2RSR) protect the interior from dust and moisture and retain the lubricant within the bearing. Thanks to the slightly increased C3 radial clearance, this FAG design is particularly suitable for industrial applications where temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation.
This deep-groove ball bearing is suitable for rotating shafts in industrial assemblies subject to combined loads. Designs benefit from the sealed construction, particularly where dirt or splash water is present and separate housing seals cannot be fitted. The built-in sheet steel cage ensures uniform guidance of the balls at medium to high speeds. Maintenance engineers specifically use this double-sealed design in compact units to minimise maintenance requirements.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This version is appropriate where a reduction in bearing clearance during operation is to be expected due to tight fits on the shaft or temperature-induced thermal expansion. Thermal expansion of the inner ring reduces the operating clearance; the increased bearing clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from jamming. However, at ambient temperatures where there are no temperature differences between the rings, the standard bearing clearance is usually selected.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 75 mm and a width of 16 mm, the bearing has standardised metric main dimensions. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a groove. The rolling elements and the rings are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6.
The designation 2RSR refers to integrated, sliding contact seals on both sides. These sealing lips rest against the inner ring and seal the interior of the bearing against moisture and dirt. At the same time, the seals retain the factory-applied grease filling within the bearing, meaning the component is designed for maintenance-free operation.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance is required where there are tight fits or significant temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. This ensures that the rotational movement of the balls remains smooth and unaffected, even in the event of thermal expansion.
The permissible operating temperature range for this rolling bearing is between –20 and +100 degrees Celsius. This operating range is limited by the sliding seals on both sides and by the lubricant used. In applications above this temperature range, premature ageing of the sealing elements and the grease must be expected.
This roller bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0, which is also designated as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1. It specifies the permissible dimensional and concentricity tolerances for common industrial applications. This classification precisely meets standardised requirements in mechanical and plant engineering.
Inside the bearing, a robust sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly between the raceways. Sheet steel cages are suitable for standard applications at medium to high speeds. Furthermore, the cage material easily withstands the entire permissible temperature range from -20 to +100 degrees Celsius.
