The SKF 4303 ATN9 double-row deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 17x47x19 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and smooth running thanks to its polyamide cage.
The SKF 4303 ATN9 deep groove ball bearing is a double-row rolling bearing for industrial applications. With dimensions of 17 mm bore, 47 mm outside diameter and 19 mm width, it accommodates both radial and axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the components offer high dimensional stability. Thanks to its double-row design, this unit can handle higher loads than single-row variants with a comparable bore whilst maintaining smooth running.
This double-row bearing is suitable for designs requiring high radial load capacity and axial loads on both sides within a limited space. Typical applications include compact industrial drives and shaft mountings where combined forces are supported in a confined space. The open design without sealing washers allows for use in oil- or grease-lubricated systems, where the lubricant can circulate freely around the rolling elements and raceways.
The integrated polyamide cage reduces the weight of the rotating parts and dampens operating noise within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the bearing is of an open design, the housing provided by the customer protects the interior from dust and moisture. For a correct design, the standard radial bearing clearance and the tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) also play an important role in the selection of the fit and concentricity.
The dimensions are 17 mm bore, 47 mm outside diameter and 19 mm width. Due to its double-row design, the bearing is wider than standard single-row bearings with a 17 mm inside diameter, enabling it to withstand greater forces in relation to the shaft size.
At SKF, the suffix ATN9 denotes a polyamide cage. This plastic reduces the overall weight compared with variants featuring a metal cage, operates quietly and retains its shape within a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This contributes to smooth operation in industrial applications.
The open design, which has no integrated seals, allows direct lubricant supply via external oil circuits or grease fillings in the housing. As a result, the bearing operates with low frictional resistance. In this case, protection against contamination and lubricant loss is provided by external seals in the surrounding structure, such as shaft seals.
This bearing has standard radial bearing clearance. This determines the radial clearance of the rolling elements between the rings when the bearing is not installed. The standard bearing clearance is designed for typical fits and normal operating temperatures, where no significant heating of the shaft requires increased operating clearance.
The two rows of balls arranged side by side increase the effective contact area within the bearing. As a result, the component can withstand higher radial forces and provides stable support for shafts under varying axial forces. This design makes efficient use of the available housing diameter when single-row bearings reach their load limits.
The outer ring, inner ring and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This case-hardened chrome steel is characterised by high strength, wear resistance and dimensional stability. Combined with manufacturing accuracy to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), the bearing is suitable for reliable continuous operation.
