The FAG 634-2Z deep-groove ball bearing combines compact dimensions of 4 × 16 × 5 mm with cover plates on both sides for protected miniature bearings.
The 634-2Z deep groove ball bearing is designed as a single-row miniature bearing for applications with very limited installation space. With an inner diameter of 4 mm, an outer diameter of 16 mm and a width of 5 mm, the design is primarily suited to radial loads and low axial forces. The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6; together with the guided sheet-steel cage, this forms the basis for smooth ball rotation within the bearing.
Small bearing locations in mechanical engineering and equipment manufacturing place high demands on fitting accuracy whilst requiring minimal space. The 634-2Z deep groove ball bearing operates within a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius and is therefore suitable for varying thermal conditions in enclosed assemblies. As the outer ring has no flange or circumferential groove, the bearing unit can be integrated flush into cylindrical mounting bores.
The suffix 2Z indicates covers on both sides made of profiled sheet steel, which act as non-contact gap seals. These cover plates keep coarse dust and foreign particles away from the raceways without altering the starting torque due to friction on rotating surfaces. Together with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and the standard radial bearing clearance, the bearing supports low-vibration operation in precision mechanical mountings.
The component has an internal diameter of 4 mm, an external diameter of 16 mm and a width of 5 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has no flange or circumferential groove, which allows for flush mounting in cylindrical housing bores.
The designation 2Z refers to cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These plates form a narrow gap with the inner ring and keep foreign matter out. As there is no sliding sealing contact, no additional friction losses occur at the sealing edges.
For this product, the standard radial bearing clearance is specified. This design is intended to ensure balanced operating clearance under normal operating conditions, provided there are no significant temperature differences between the bearing rings or unusually tight fits.
Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel. The balls are guided by a sheet-steel cage, which maintains the spacing between the rolling elements throughout the entire permissible temperature range.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range allows the device to be used in cold environments as well as in enclosures where moderate heat is generated during operation.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. This classification precisely meets the standard accuracy requirements in general mechanical engineering as well as for compact rotary movements.
