The FAG 6320-C3 deep-groove ball bearing is an open, single-row rolling bearing with a 100 mm bore, an outer diameter of 215 mm and increased bearing clearance.
As a single-row radial ball bearing, the FAG 6320-C3 deep groove ball bearing accommodates both radial forces and axial loads in both directions. With key dimensions of 100 mm inner diameter and 215 mm outer diameter, and a width of 47 mm, the component can withstand high loads in continuous industrial operation. It is manufactured from 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, which gives the raceways and balls a high degree of dimensional stability. As the bearing is of an open design, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems.
Design engineers primarily select this size for heavy-duty shaft mountings in general mechanical and plant engineering, where shafts with a diameter of 100 mm are supported. Due to its open design without integrated sealing washers, the bearing is designed for enclosed housings with oil circulation lubrication or for installation spaces with separate external housing seals. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
The abbreviation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and the rolling elements compensates for thermal expansion when temperature differences arise between the shaft and the housing during operation. Tight fits also reduce the bearing clearance during press-fitting. A sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1. When designing the assembly, you should provide for a suitable external lubrication supply and sealing.
The roller bearing has a bore of 100 mm for the shaft seat, an outer diameter of 215 mm and a total width of 47 mm. Both rings are cylindrical; the outer ring has no flanges or ring grooves. Check these dimensions against the drawing of your bearing location before fitting.
The C3 classification offers greater radial clearance than a standard bearing. This is advantageous when tight fits reduce the radial operating clearance after installation, or when the shaft heats up significantly during continuous operation. This helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing and promotes smooth running.
As this bearing is supplied ex-works without sealing or cover washers, the surrounding machine housing provides the seal. Depending on the operating conditions, external shaft seals, labyrinth seals or felt strips are used for this purpose. The open design also allows lubricating oil to flow through unimpeded or enables the use of application-specific greases.
The bearing is specified for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The rings and rolling elements, made from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel, as well as the temperature-resistant sheet steel cage, retain their dimensional stability within these limits. The lubricant selected must be suited to the actual operating temperature.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 rating. This represents the standard normal tolerance for industrial roller bearings. It offers precise concentricity and defined dimensional accuracy for general mechanical engineering and industrial drive systems.
This model features a sheet steel cage. This type of cage guides the balls evenly along the raceway and is characterised by its low weight and good lubricant permeability. Furthermore, the steel cage can withstand temperatures of up to +150 degrees Celsius without any loss of performance.
