The SKF 6311 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing combines dimensions of 55x120x29 mm with cover plates on both sides and increased C3 radial clearance for demanding industrial applications.
With the 6311 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing, you are selecting a single-row radial ball bearing made from 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. The design, which has no ring groove, accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. A sturdy sheet steel cage maintains the rolling elements at a uniform distance. The cover plates on both sides protect the bearing interior from coarse contaminants.
This design is used in shaft mountings with a 55 mm diameter, where predominantly radial forces are present. As the cover plates are designed as non-contact gap seals, they do not generate any additional frictional heat at the sealing points. This enables speeds on a par with open mountings.
Its use is particularly recommended when rotating components need to be protected against the ingress of dust or swarf without incurring friction losses.
The increased C3 bearing clearance provides the rolling elements with more radial freedom than standard bearing clearance. This prevents the rolling elements from jamming when operational heating of up to +120 degrees Celsius causes the shafts to expand or when fixed installation dimensions reduce the bearing clearance.
The version with sheet metal cover plates (2Z) shields the interior from particles. In combination with tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), this provides a versatile rolling bearing for thermally stressed designs.
The main dimensions are a bore diameter of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width of 29 mm. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
The suffix -2Z denotes cover plates made of profiled sheet steel fitted on both sides. These gap covers operate without physical contact, keep out coarse dirt particles and maintain the bearing’s rotational capacity without causing friction losses.
The C3 designation indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. It compensates for any reduction in bearing clearance caused by tight fits on the shaft and temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during operation.
The approved operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the cover plates, the sheet steel cage and the material structure of the bearing rings retain their dimensional stability.
The rings and balls are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). The material is through-hardened, dimensionally stable under load and complies with current industry standards for single-row radial deep-groove ball bearings.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to class ABEC 1. It is therefore suitable for standard installation in general mechanical engineering, plant engineering and toolmaking.
