The SKF 6306-Z deep groove ball bearing, with standardised dimensions of 30x72x19 mm and single-sided dust shielding, is suitable for a wide range of industrial drives.
The SKF 6306-Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), made from 100Cr6 rolling-element steel. It accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Thanks to the robust sheet steel cage and the standard radial clearance, the bearing operates smoothly within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. Design engineers and maintenance personnel opt for this design when one side needs to be protected from contamination, whilst the other side remains accessible for lubrication.
This rolling bearing is suitable for rotating shafts in drive units and in general mechanical engineering. Its single-row design copes with high speeds whilst ensuring stable load distribution. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or flange, the component fits flush into cylindrical housing bores. The combination of a 30 mm bore and a 72 mm outer diameter meets a wide range of requirements in industrial drive technology.
The non-abrasive Z-cover plate protects the bearing interior from coarse dirt particles without generating additional friction or heat during operation. The open rear side allows for relubrication via the housing cavity, for example in shared oil circuits. The standard radial bearing clearance is suitable for common transition fits on the shaft. During assembly, care must be taken to ensure that the metal protective disc is mounted facing the potential source of contamination.
With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 19 mm, the 6306-Z deep-groove ball bearing complies with the standardised dimensions of the 63 series. The bearing has a cylindrical outer ring without a ring groove and is suitable for standardised bearing seats in machines and housings.
The suffix ‘Z’ denotes a single-sided cover comprising a non-contact cover plate made of profiled sheet metal. This plate keeps coarse particles and swarf out of the raceway area without causing friction losses. The open opposite side allows the bearing to be lubricated directly from within the installation space.
The permissible operating temperature range for this roller bearing is between -20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The rings and rolling elements, made from case-hardened 100Cr6 bearing steel, as well as the temperature-resistant sheet steel cage, retain their dimensional stability within this range. For continuous operation, the lubricant used must be suitable for the respective temperature.
The version with standard bearing clearance (normal clearance) provides a balanced operating clearance for standard installation conditions. It is suitable for standard shaft fits and moderate operating temperatures. The internal clearance compensates for the manufacturing-related expansion of the inner ring during press-fitting, ensuring that the rolling elements roll without stress.
The outer and inner rings, as well as the balls, are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This steel is characterised by high hardness, fatigue strength and wear resistance under rolling contact. The rolling element set is guided within a stamped sheet steel cage, which ensures low-friction operation.
The ball bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This represents the standard accuracy class for industrial applications. It defines tight manufacturing tolerances for diameter and radial runout, which contributes to a reliable fit on the shaft.
