With its compact dimensions of 10x35x11 mm, the SKF 6300 deep-groove ball bearing offers a robust solution for predominantly radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 6300 deep groove ball bearing is a versatile rolling bearing for industrial and trade applications. As a single-row radial ball bearing, it accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 bearing steel and fitted with a lightweight sheet steel cage, this Explorer version is characterised by smooth running characteristics. The open design, without integrated sealing washers, allows for flexible integration into existing lubrication systems, for example with oil or external grease lubrication.
This bearing is particularly suitable for enclosed housing designs and assemblies where external sealing is already in place. Thanks to its open design, the lubricant reaches the rolling elements and raceways unimpeded. Design engineers and maintenance personnel often opt for this design when lubricating oils are required to circulate freely. The permissible operating temperature range extends from –20 to +120 degrees and is suitable for both new designs and planned component replacement.
When installing the 6300 deep groove ball bearing, you should take the ambient conditions into account. As this bearing is designed without sealing washers, the supply of lubricant and protection against contamination must be provided by the surrounding housing. The standard radial bearing clearance provides a balanced clearance between the rolling elements and raceways, which is designed for typical operating temperatures and standard fits. The P0 (ABEC 1) tolerance class corresponds to the tried-and-tested standard precision used in mechanical engineering and is compatible with suitable bearing seats.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 10 mm, an outside diameter of 35 mm and a width of 11 mm. The outer ring has no flange or groove. These compact dimensions allow it to be fitted on shafts with a diameter of 10 millimetres, even where space is limited.
An open bearing has neither sliding seals nor non-contacting cover plates at the ends. This means that the rolling elements and the sheet-steel cage are accessible from the outside. This allows for a continuous supply of lubricating oil or grease circulating within the housing, but requires the bearing location to be protected against dirt and moisture by external sealing rings.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standard internal clearance between the balls and the raceways when the bearing is unloaded. This design is intended for applications with standard fits and moderate operating temperatures. It prevents excessive distortion of the bearing rings under normal operating conditions and promotes even load distribution in the single-row ball bearing.
The permissible temperature range for this roller bearing is between -20 and +120 degrees. The components made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. To ensure safe operation, it is important to bear in mind that the lubricant supplied by the customer must also be suitable for the respective operating temperature.
The designation P0 or ABEC 1 refers to the standard manufacturing and running accuracy of industrial roller bearings. It defines the permissible deviations for bore diameter, outer diameter and concentricity. For general machinery and fixture construction, this tolerance class offers a tried-and-tested fit accuracy that enables trouble-free assembly on standard shafts and in standard housing bores.
Both the bearing rings and the rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel. This material is characterised by its dimensional stability under mechanical stress. Together with the robust sheet steel cage, the material forms a durable unit capable of withstanding dynamic and static loads in continuous industrial use.
