The SKF 6215 -2RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing, with a 75 mm bore, combines double-sided sealing protection with increased C3 bearing clearance for thermally demanding industrial applications.
The SKF 6215 -2RS1/C3 single-row deep groove ball bearing accommodates radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this version has a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm. The design features a robust sheet steel cage and a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove. Thanks to its factory-fitted contact seal, this rolling bearing is suitable for demanding environmental conditions in mechanical and plant engineering.
This radial ball bearing is ideal for use in industrial drives and rotating shaft assemblies where dirt and moisture must be kept out. The 2RS1 seals, which make contact on both sides, reduce the ingress of solid particles and splash water into the bearing’s interior. At the same time, the sealing lip retains the lubricant inside. Design engineers and maintenance personnel choose this deep-groove ball bearing primarily for operating environments where manual relubrication is not possible and protected operation is required.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This radial clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by heat build-up during operation or for tight press fits on the shaft and housing, without the bearing becoming stressed. Combined with the permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees, the bearing operates smoothly even under increased operating temperatures. The P0 tolerance class (ABEC 1 standard) ensures proven dimensional stability for industrial shaft and housing fits.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width across flats of 25 mm. The design is a single-row radial ball bearing without a groove or flange on the outer ring. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in corresponding bearing housings and shaft seats.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard bearing clearance. This clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and the rolling elements counteracts seizing if the inner and outer rings heat up to different degrees during operation or if tight fits reduce the radial clearance. As a result, the bearing remains free-running even under thermal loads.
The abiding sealing lips of the 2RS1 design, fitted on both sides, make direct contact with the contact surfaces of the inner ring. They provide effective protection against the ingress of dust, dirt particles and moisture, and retain the factory-applied grease within the rolling element chamber.
The permissible temperature range for this version is from -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. These temperature limits result from the interaction between the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel, the robust sheet steel cage and the contact sealing discs. Within these limits, all components retain their mechanical strength and sealing performance in industrial applications.
The rings and rolling elements of the bearing are made from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high compressive strength and wear resistance under rolling contact. The set of rolling elements is guided by a sheet steel cage, which maintains an even spacing between the balls.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0, which corresponds internationally to the ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance class defines permissible deviations for bore, outer diameter, roundness and axial run-out. It is sufficient for common industrial drives and standard mechanical engineering designs.
