The FAG 6212 single-row deep-groove ball bearing, with main dimensions of 60x110x22 mm, is primarily designed to support radial loads in demanding machine designs.
The FAG 6212 deep groove ball bearing is designed as a universal radial ball bearing for a wide range of industrial applications. With a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 22 mm, this design withstands high radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, the single-row version maintains dimensional stability within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in shaft mountings for rotating machinery that require precise guidance under predominantly radial loads. The deep raceway geometry promotes low-vibration operation at high circumferential speeds. As the design is open at both ends, it is particularly suitable for enclosed housings in which lubricating oil or grease can reach the balls unhindered. The integrated sheet steel cage maintains a precise spacing between the rolling elements and keeps the component weight low.
As an open rolling bearing, this variant does not feature any manufacturer-fitted sealing washers. An external housing seal specifically protects the raceways from environmental conditions such as dirt particles, dust or moisture. The open design allows the lubricant to be selected to suit the specific operating environment. With standard radial bearing clearance and tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1), the model is suitable for standard fit conditions without significant thermal linear expansion.
The 6212 deep-groove ball bearing has a bore of 60 mm, an outside diameter of 110 mm and a width of 22 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into the corresponding bearing seats. As the outer ring has no flange or ring groove, the component fits flush into cylindrical housing bores.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the internal clearance between the rolling elements and raceways when no load is applied. This standard, neutral design is suitable for normal operating temperatures and standard shaft and housing fits. It helps to ensure that, once fitted, the bearing neither seizes nor exhibits excessive radial clearance.
Open deep-groove ball bearings do not require integrated cover plates or sealing discs, which minimises frictional resistance and facilitates high speed limits. This design also allows for continuous oil lubrication or relubrication via the surrounding machine housing. The user selects the type of lubricant and the external seal to suit the specific operating environment.
The bearing, made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel with a sheet steel cage, is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. Within this temperature range, the material retains its dimensional stability. The choice of lubricant is crucial for actual use in continuous operation, as oils and greases have their own temperature limits.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This represents the standard manufacturing accuracy for industrial rolling bearings. It covers the vast majority of mechanical engineering applications and allows for the use of conventional machining tolerances on shafts and housing bores.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made from hardened 100Cr6 roller bearing steel. This material withstands high compressive stresses during rolling contact. The integrated cage is made from profiled sheet steel, which gives it high strength whilst keeping its mass low and ensures that the balls are guided evenly during rotation.
