The SKF single-row deep groove ball bearing 61905 -2RS1 (25x42x9 mm), featuring a ground seal on both sides, offers reliable protection in compact industrial applications.
The 61905 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing manufactured by SKF, designed to accommodate radial and light axial loads. With a bore of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 42 mm and a narrow width of 9 mm, this design is suitable for applications with limited radial installation space. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and fitted with a sheet steel cage, this bearing is suitable for use in a temperature range from -20 to +120 degrees.
This deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in compact designs on shafts with a 25 mm diameter where limited radial installation space is available. Its narrow design allows for space-saving bearing arrangements under moderate loads. The factory-applied grease fill and sealed design are intended to eliminate the need for relubrication during normal operation, thereby minimising maintenance requirements.
The suffix -2RS1 denotes contact seals fitted on both sides. These sealing elements make an elastic contact with the contact surfaces of the inner ring and help to reduce the ingress of dirt, moisture and foreign particles into the rolling chamber. At the same time, they retain the lubricant inside the bearing. Compared with open variants, the sliding seal does generate some friction, but in return protects the bearing from external environmental influences.
With a bore of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 42 mm and a width of 9 mm, this bearing has a very flat profile. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no flange or groove. These dimensions allow it to be fitted onto 25 mm shafts whilst maintaining a small outer diameter.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the radial clearance between the balls and raceways as specified by the manufacturer when the bearing is unmounted. It helps to ensure that, at normal operating temperatures and under standard fit conditions, the bearing neither becomes stressed nor overheats to an unacceptable extent. This design is the appropriate choice for standard applications without any special thermal loads.
The permissible temperature range is from -20 to +120 degrees. This range is limited by the material of the sliding seals and the standard grease used. Within this temperature range, the sealing lips retain their elasticity and the lubricant maintains the required lubricating properties for low-friction operation.
In this model, a sturdy sheet steel cage guides the balls along their raceway. The cage keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance apart and prevents them from coming into contact with one another. Sheet steel cages are characterised by their low weight and their resistance to common industrial oils and lubricants.
Tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN or ABEC 1) defines the standard manufacturing accuracy with regard to dimensional, form and running deviations of the inner and outer rings. It meets the typical requirements of general mechanical engineering and ensures uniform concentricity when bearing seats on the shaft and housing are correctly machined.
The manufacturer has not provided for relubrication in this design. The sliding seals on both sides contain the lubricant within the bearing chamber and protect it from contamination. Removing the sealing discs to add grease would damage the sealing lips and is not necessary for normal operation.
