SKF single-row deep groove ball bearing 61834, dimensions 170 x 215 x 22 mm, open design with a sheet steel cage for radial loads.
The 61834 deep groove ball bearing is a versatile rolling bearing for industrial designs with limited radial installation space. Manufactured from standard rolling bearing steel (100Cr6), this single-row bearing primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Thanks to its manufacture to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, the component fits precisely into standardised assemblies. You are supplied with a functional component from SKF Rolling Bearings for low-maintenance industrial applications.
This radial ball bearing is particularly well-suited to applications where a slim radial cross-section is required for large shaft diameters. Typical applications include drive systems and compact machine housings. As the rolling elements remain accessible from both sides, the bearing can be efficiently integrated into enclosed housings with an existing lubrication circuit. Design engineers make targeted use of this space-saving design to reduce the overall weight of rotating units.
As an open rolling bearing, the 61834 variant has no integrated sealing washers. It therefore requires a clean installation environment or external sealing of the housing against dirt particles and moisture. The standard radial bearing clearance is designed for normal operating temperatures and standardised fits. The robust sheet steel cage retains its mechanical properties between –20 and +120 degrees. Ensure that the lubricant used is suitable for this temperature range.
The internal bore measures 170 mm, the external diameter is 215 mm and the width is 22 mm. This flat cross-sectional geometry allows relatively large shafts to be supported in compact housings. Thanks to the cylindrical bore, the roller bearing can be fitted directly onto suitable shaft seats.
In open roller bearings, lubricants such as oil or grease can reach the balls and raceways unhindered. This promotes continuous relubrication during operation and reduces friction losses. At the same time, external housing seals must be fitted to prevent the ingress of dirt particles and the loss of lubricant.
The standard radial bearing clearance refers to the standardised internal clearance between the rolling elements and raceways in their initial state. It is designed for standard shaft and housing fits, as well as normal operating temperatures. After the bearing rings have been pressed into place, sufficient clearance remains to prevent the rolling elements from becoming jammed during operation.
The roller bearing is designed for use in a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Within this temperature range, the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the sheet steel cage retain their dimensional stability. To ensure safe operation, the selected lubricant must also be specified for these temperature limits.
This specification sets out the basic tolerance class for standard rolling bearings in accordance with international standards. It defines the permissible dimensional, form and running deviations for the bore, outer diameter and axial run-out. For most industrial drives, this standard tolerance provides sufficient concentricity whilst ensuring cost-effective manufacture.
The sheet steel cage maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements and prevents direct contact between the rotating balls. This design is characterised by its low weight and high mechanical strength. It is suitable for standard continuous operation in conjunction with grease or oil lubrication.
